Denver Broncos Youngsters Under Preforming.

in #sports5 years ago

It’s still super early, training camp doesn’t even start for several more weeks in the NFL. The QB1 position in Denver is already secure this year with the acquisition of Joe Flacco BUT, the future in Denver rests on the shoulders of the two young QB’s John Elway drafted and signed this past off season and everyone in Denver knows it.

Missouri Tigers standout Drew Lock was projected by some to be a top 15 pick n the 2019 draft but the Broncos ended up with him in the second round which on the surface seems like great value. I like Lock and I think in the end he will emerge as the new franchise QB in Denver but, the early reports out of mini camp say he has missed many throws, already fired several interceptions and has missed some big plays that NFL top draft picks are supposed to make. I’m not to worried at this point because it could be rookie nerves, game speed or knowledge of the playbook making him hesitant. There is not much room for error in the NFL because the game speed is super fast and the offense is much more complicated than college. Lock apparently has underperformed but coach Fangio did say he has seen many good things to be excited about with Lock as well. Here is hoping he has a much better training camp when all the players are there fighting for a spot on the 53 man roster.

Undrafted free agent (and highly paid) Brett Rypien haven’t done much better than Lock according to Broncos insiders. Veteran backup Hogan has been the worst of the four players so that definitely causes concern for Broncos fans because in the NFL it’s really a matter of time before a back up must come into a game due to injury at some point in the year. The Broncos and most other NFL teams only keep 3 players at the QB position so Flacco and the two youngsters seem to have the inside track for roster spots.

Maturity in the NFL takes time for most but the Broncos don’t have that kind of time. Football season is just around the corner and we need a clear cut back up to emerge out of the three quickly. Pre season will tell the real story but much can been seen right now from decision making, footwork, and general reading of defensive scheme that’s well hidden in the professional game.

Sort:

Flacco is solid enough and is a veteran. But who knows.

To keep going on the game in the next level should be definatly need a new talents to keep it in fire . 👍

hey, @broncnuz how are you??

The solidity of a team is influenced by the skill of the players. Players who play badly should not be allowed to play for a while until they find the best game.

they will be soon outshining the best for sure
