Oiler's Fall to The Bruins 4-1

The Oiler's had a much better effort compared to their dismal showing in Sweden to open the season but still come up well short against the Boston Bruins. The Oiler's were much more competive today but couldn't get much offense going and ultimately lost on special teams.

The Oiler's started quickly and opened the scoring early on a play I hope to see quite often this season, a Connor McDavid break away. McDavid took a pass from Ty Rattie and blew by veteran defender Zdeno Chara. Unfortunately, that was the end of the Oiler's offense for the day.

The Oiler's, in classic Oiler's fashion, took two peanlties shortly after opening up their lead. The Bruins capitalized with two goals and followed that up with another goal on an odd man break. The first period ends with the Bruins up 3-1 and little to no chance at a comeback.

Overall the Oiler's played much better than game one but they faced a much better opponent in the Boston Bruins. The Bruins really kept the Oiler's to the outside of the hockey rink and limited the Oiler's scoring chances.

A disappointing afternoon but much better that last game. The Oiler's are now 0-2 on the season and now the only team in the league without a point in the standings. A bad start for the club and a tough road ahead. There was so much optimism two weeks ago but that's all fading away in Oil Country.
