Heard any good off-the-field NFL stories lately?

in #sports5 years ago

No I don't mean the type of stories that involves yet another scumbag finally being stupid enough to do something horrible... on camera. Clearly the NFL does not give a shit if their players do terrible things as long as there is no accompanying video to stoke the flames of temporary public "outrage".

But enough of that. I mean good NFL stories. Because for every cowardly scumbag that puts their hand on a woman, there are 50 who are doing great things with their fame and fortune.

Sadly, these good stories are hard to find.

So if you want to watch this week's NFL games without feeling ashamed for supporting a league that only steps in when there is publicly available evidence of scumbaggery, here are some of the awesome things NFL players have done this month.
Shaquill Griffin, Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Shaquem Griffin, Nick Vannett, and Keenan Reynolds of the Seattle Seahawks hosted a Thanksgiving meal for active members of the military. Oh and by the way Shaquem Griffin is that rookie who happens to only have one hand... yet he is playing in the NFL. So that's cool.

This dude blew people away at the combine.

Mark Barron gave away 1600 turkeys to community centers and a kidney care center.

The offensive line of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers donated $35,000 in order to feed 100 families on Thanksgiving.

Patrick Onwuaso, John Brown, Willie Snead, and Matthew Judo actually handed out turkeys to 400 families.

Deon Bush and Sam Acho of my Chicago Bears started a Mobile Canteen and fed 100 homeless families. Then they went and hung out with some junior high kids. (Bush isn't making much more than the league minimum by the way).

Ok who am I going to help first?

Hopefully you get the point. This month while a couple of stories about NFL scumbags were blowing up the internet, every team in the league had players who sacrificed their time and money to do wonderful things. And they do it all the freaking time!

So screw you scumbags for not only being terrible cowardly asshats but for overshadowing the great things being done by your teammates!

I don't think the issue is that there are not people helping in their position. The issue is that those people are humble, so you never hear about them, while the pro athletes who are a holes are so loud and boisterous. It is hard not find out about them. My issue is that those a hole ones think they are about the law and just because they are fast they can get away with murder....(Ray Lewis)... But I also had 2 big time MLB players as coaches in high school who did a absolute ton for my little school. They would stay after a game and sign autographs for however long it took.

I knew I liked you for a reason! The fact that Ray Lewis has become like a cute, cuddly mascot is infuriating! At the very least, a family did not receive justice for their dead loved one because of that scumbag. At worst he is responsible.

If you stay tuned, the entire Minnesota Vikings team will once again give away their season to a more needy franchise very soon. They do it every year and don't get enough credit.

That is so generous of them.

You Vike that?!!!!
