UEFA MATCH PREVIEW: POLAND Vs. ITALY

The UEFA nation’s league continues this Sunday with a host of games which are poised to be of interest to all football fans. Tomorrow would see the Italians take on Poland in a crucial match which could have a massive say in Italy’s chances of going further in this competition. Italy is on a bad run of form and has not won a game in five matches.Therefore, for the Italians, this game is a crunch game which they cannot afford to lose. This bad form has seen them languish at the rock bottom of group 3 of league A.

To make matters worse for the Italians, they have not scored a goal throughout the season from open play. In fact, the only goal which Italy has scored was scored from the penalty spot. Ironically, this goal was scored against Poland. So they might take some comfort from that. However, their form throughout this year has been nothing but bad and they would be wishing that it gets better from this match.

Poland, however, is poised and confident that they can take something out of this match. They would probably look at Italy poor run of form and give themselves a chance in their hearts. The teams for Poland is really straight. Just last week, Lewandowski was on the field as Poland was defeated by Portugal 3-2. This proved to be his 100th cap for his country and he would be absolutely delighted with this achievement. You can expect Lewandowski to make his 101st appearance for his country when they take on Italy.

Other players in both sides who would be expected to start for their countries include Federico Benardeschi, Insigne, and Jorginho. It would be quite difficult for the Italians to keep a clean sheet today when you look at the attacking talent which is on display, the Italians would have a herculean task to keep the polish out. However, the Polish defense has been really leaky of late and we would also expect at least a goal to sneak in.

The polish form has not been that brilliant itself but at least they have won one of their last five matches and drawn only two matches. They would both be itching to close the gap on Portugal who is at the very top of the group with 6 points. However, Poland would be hoping that the world cup coupled with recent performances will be able to clinch this.

Italy best shot at winning the game would be to ensure that all things at the back are kept tightly shut and then hope to attack the polish at the counter-attack. Their chances will be boosted if they can keep the likes of Insigne active and ready to rumble throughout the match.

However, if the polish can take advantage of their star man Lewandowski who would be itching to add to his scoring list. Anyway it goes, one thing is for certain.
