Impressive Showing.
What a match that was. Everyone expected Barcelona to win Manchester United by a wider margin but they didn't see this coming. Manchester United didn't win, yes but Barcelona were caged and they frustrated Lionel Messi at every turn.
Barcelona were not their usual self. They played with caution and defended for most of the match. There was no urgency to their game and Manchester United actually took the game to them. Dalot and Rashford missed chances and maybe it would have provoked Barcelona to come out more and we would have seen more goals from both teams.
The goal came from a dicey call as the Lineman raised his flag for an offside but the Referee pointed and called it a goal. That was the only real effort and chance made by Barcelona in the early exchanges and it was an effort from Luis Suarez which later passed for an own goal eventually.
Manchester United gave an impressive showing and if they could put in this same effort and more clinical efforts, then they can dare to dream again when they travel to Barcelona on Tuesday. Barcelona holds the first leg advantage by 1-0.
Ajax hosted Juventus and their talisman; Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scores with a thumping header. What a great goal it was.
I was really impressed with Ajax. They took the game to Juventus and would have been far out of sight if not for some wasted chances and Szczesny's brilliant efforts between the sticks. He denied them but they eventually levelled matters with a brilliant play in.
It promises to get exciting next week when they travel to Turin. If they play like this and then show more steel in front of goal, we might be looking at an upset but Juventus' experience would always count. I see Juventus winning this as they are already with an away goal since the match ended 1-1.
