SportSteem Week 10 NFL Recap

After the NFL Week 10 games, we’re far enough into the season where some early-season “flukes” are looking more and more legit. The Jared Goff-led Los Angeles Rams are putting up points at a historic pace. Behind boy wonder Sean McVay, the Rams have already scored more points than they did all of last season and are on track to score as many points as the 1999 Greatest Show on Turf Rams. The Jared Goff – Kurt Warner comparisons? Not a whole lot of those back in September. Meanwhile, up in Minnesota, the Vikings have a good defense but it’s still shocking to see Case Keenum leading an NFL team to a 7-2 record. It’s mid-November and we’re staring down the barrel of a Case Keenum – Jared Goff NFC Championship Game / ratings bonanza.

Key injuries / domestic violence court sagas are starting to have a major impact on the playoff race as well. Zeke Elliott may not play until Dec. 24 and without him (and Tyron Smith) the Cowboys don’t look great as they got pummeled in Atlanta by a mediocre Falcons team. The Texans had playoff aspirations under super-rook Deshaun Watson but Tom Savage has put the kibosh on those at record speed. This is also the point in the year when bad teams concede that they are, in fact, bad and start looking towards the 2018 Draft. It’s shaping up to be a good year for top QBs, with Darnold and Rosen leading the way, and the Giants, Jets, Browns are all better off losing from here on out.

In the desert, it was another good week for the favorites as they went 12-2 SU and 8-5-1 ATS. We saw a bunch of road favorites take care of business. The Saints were 3-pt favorites, in Buffalo, and won by 37. The Patriots were 7.5-pt favorites and won by 25 in Denver. And the Packers went into Chicago, without Rodgers, and took care of business – helped out by John Fox’s inexplicable challenge that actually created a Bears turnover out of thin air.

SportSteem NFL ContestChallenge

SportSteem’s second NFL ContestChallenge is underway and runs through the end of Week 11 and the leaderboard looks like this:

@natedogg and @adsbc are looking good but there are plenty of games to pick and win to get back into the race. Take a look at the link below for more information on how to register, play, and win!

SportSteem is also pleased to announce that it has introduced college football functionality (in addition to NFL, NBA, and NHL). Each week, SportSteem users can pick any college game featuring a top-25 team. Be on the lookout for college basketball in the near future as well!

Thursday Night Football Preview

A couple of playoff hopefuls will battle it out Thursday as the Titans travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. The Mariota-led Titans are tied for first (with the Jaguars) but face a tough test as Big Ben and the offense always play better at home. The Steelers have a stranglehold over a weak AFC North but need to keep winning in order to keep up with the Patriots and Chiefs in the race for the AFC’s top 2 seeds (and critical playoff byes). Pittsburgh has opened as a heavy 6.5-pt favorite but are 5-4 ATS so far this year. It should be a good one – make your picks and get a jumpstart on the rest of the Week 11 action!
