Wilder vs. Fury - Heavy Weight Championship

Premiere Boxing Champs

Tomorrow Night Deontay Wilder will face off against Britain’s Tyson Fury at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Wilder looks to solidify his legacy as a boxing great by taking on a lineal boxing champ in Tyson Fury. Fury is looking to return to past glory from a two year hiatus.

Unfortunately for Tyson Fury, he will be running into if not running away from a battle proven Deontay Wilder. Fury believes his technical boxing skills coupled with his speed and agility will not only fatigue Wilder but will frustrate Wilder enough for a Tyson Fury upset.

This will not be the case no matter how much ducking and dancing Fury does tomorrow. Wilder’s last fight against a strong and very technical Luis “King Kong” Ortiz showed Wilder’s quickness both offensively and defensively.

Wilder’s chin was also tested by Ortiz, who had knocked out 24 of 28 opponents, at the end of the 7th round. Ortiz and Wilder both swung and connected hard. Wilder drove Ortiz’s head back into his neck, while Ortiz turned Wilder’s head violently to the side. Ortiz immediately sensed that Wilder had been stunned and immediately landed a flush left hook that wobbled the undefeated champ.

These last 30 seconds of the 7th round were probably Wilder’s longest 30 seconds of his boxing career. Ortiz was now a heat seeking missile locked on its target. Wilder’s legs looked rubbery but wouldn’t fold, and his instinct had him dodging Ortiz’s bombs. Ortiz’s barrage paid off, connecting solidly on Wilder’s face, putting him into the ropes.

Wilder’s chin and instinct could no longer hold back the man nicknamed “King Kong.” Ortiz was now looking to finish, and Wilder was now barely hanging on. Only the heart of a champion was keeping him up now, and then the bell finally rang, ending the 7th Round with both warriors still on their feet.

Wilder and Ortiz would continue to battle for the next two rounds. Wilder had been rocked but had since regained his senses and remained dangerous, forcing a more fatigued Ortiz into a more cautious fighting mode. This would prove to be a mistake for Ortiz.

In the 10th Round, Wilder’s superior conditioning had him coming out strong. He was no longer looking to survive like at the end of the 7th and most of the 8th rounds. He knew he had taken the best from Ortiz and survived. He had nothing to fear now and was again on the hunt. Landing a right hook on Ortiz’s face rocked him. When Ortiz tried to hold, Wilder shook Ortiz off so hard he fell, ruling it a slip or no knock down.
The damage had been done. Ortiz was hurt, and the “Bronze Bomber” Wilder began his relentless barrage, felling the mighty “King King” for the second time of the night. Ortiz, always the warrior stood back up but it would not last long. Wilder swung and swung, eventually delivering the final blow with a powerful uppercut, folding the legs of “King Kong,” bringing him down to his knees. Wilder for the win by knockout for the 39th time.

Tomorrow night it will be Wilder by knockout for the 40th time.

I will post from the fight tomorrow night.
