I watched my first UFC fight.

in #sports6 years ago

It was the first time in my life, I watched a UFC fight because everyone was eagerly waiting and making their predictions. The talk was in the air and I decided to watch a fight for the first time. The fight was for the UFC lightweight championship between the champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and the challenger, "The Notorious" Conor McGregor. I had heard the name of McGregor and seen him a few times but I had no idea who Khabib was.

The challenger came to the ring and looked very calm and confident. He was welcomed by the fans and almost whole arena was chanting and cheering for him.
Out came the champion and I heard people booing him. He looked angry and it seemed that he will start hitting McGregor from the get go.The reason for Khabib's anger was that McGregor had used abusive language against his religion and family.
The first round started but Khabib did not attack, instead his approach was defensive and he let Conor come attack first. It seemed weird to me but soon I realised his tactics as he pushed Conor to the ground and gained control. During the second round Khabib landed a big right handed punch to McGregor's face and immediately gained control by taking Conor to the ground. Khabib kept punching Conor and he really looked helpless to me.

I knew that Khabib is really dangerous on the ground by the time we moved to the round 3. Khabib again forced Conor to the ground in the fourth round and Khabib won by a submission as Conor tapped. For me Conor McGregor didn't look as good as his name and fame says, maybe because he came after a long break.

After the match, Khabib jumped off the cage and attacked Dillon Danis, McGregor's team mate and Khabib's team mates then attacked McGregor in the ring.
Khabib later apologised for his actions.

I dunno where people heard Conor talking about his religion. I was ready to start hating him if he does so, but he's a smart individual. He never done that. Not even word.

Please people, don't repeat something just cuz you heard it somewhere :D

He trashed his family - true. But it happened before in other buildups as well. Is it crossing the line? Who knows...Talking religion would be for sure. At least for me. But he never mentioned islam or muslims ever. I've spent 3 months in Pakistan and I find Islam absolutely amazing and often misunderstood religion - therefore I really payed attention to Conor and what he will say about it. Never mentioned it..
