NBA Playoffs - Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers - Series Recap

The Process eliminated as the Celtics Rise up to the occasion

For the second straight year the Boston Celtics will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in a best of 7 series in the Eastern Conference Finals. Like most people predicted it would be the Cavaliers slugging it out with the Celtics this year. The off season was great for the Celtics as they acquired Kyrie Irving in a trade with the Cavaliers, and signed Gordon Hayward thru free agency. What nobody expected is they reached the Eastern Conference Finals without their 2 best players due to injury.

Led by the Veteran Al Horford, and solid players like Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown, and rookie sensation Jason Tatum they were able to finish as the second seed, and reach the conference finals. Beating the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round in 7 games, and beating the young and talented Philadelphia 76ers in 5 games.

The series was a good match up as the games were really close games and either team could have won the close games, but the experience of the Celtics led by Brad Stevens prevailed in the end. The 76ers were great too, they had just some costly mistakes in clutch time.

The first and second game was won by the Celtics at home as expected, heading into Philadelphia the 76ers were much stronger but the Celtics were able to win in Overtime taking a 3-0 lead of the series. Facing elimination the 76ers bounced back and won game 4. Heading back to Boston for game 5 the 76ers were fighting for their lives in this years playoffs. Game 5 went down to the wire, with the 76ers and Celtics trading buckets till the last second, but the Celtics prevailed after end of regulation, the 76ers though fought until the end.

The Celtics was led in scoring by the rookie Jason Tatum, followed by Brown, and Rozier. While the 76ers was led by the double doubles of Joel Embiid, and Dario Saric with 27 points a piece and grabbing 10+ rebounds.

The Boston Celtics will now face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, the series will start on Monday May 14 here in the Philippines.

The Process continues

Even though the 76ers lost, I think the future is still great for them. With the playoffs experience to players like Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid they will take this loss and improve in the off season. Also not to mention the 76ers has a lot of cap space where they can get an All Star Caliber Player with the free cap space. Also there is a question on the first overall pick this year Markelle Fultz, it was disappointing rookie year for the point guard as he did not manage to get healthy and play. I think he will bounce back the second year, with a regular season in the bag.

Thanks for reading.
