Splash! Pelicans eliminated as Steph Curry returns and the Warriors dominate

For the fourth time straight, the Defending Champions Golden State Warriors are once again in the Western Conference Finals, but this time their opponent will have home court advantage. Everyone anticipated when will Stephen Curry return for the Warriors, all of the questions were answered as he returned in game 2 of the series against the Pelicans, helping the Warriors win coming of the bench and scoring 28 points, and grabbing 7 rebounds in the process. I expected him to be rusty in the court, I was wrong as he returned in top form.

In game 5 where the Warriors eliminated the Pelicans, the All Stars of Golden State Durant, Curry, and Thompson combined for 75 points to torch the Pelicans in the elimination game. Draymond Green put another all around performance with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists. The Pelicans meanwhile was led by Anthony Davis with 34 points, and 19 rebounds, along with Jrue Holiday had a triple double scoring 27 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing 11 assists. It was not enough to upset the Warriors which led for much of the game. It was late in the fourth quarter where New Orleans staged a comeback which cut the lead of the Warriors to just 7 after leading as much as 20+ most of the way. The rally fell short as Draymond Green had key baskets to put the Pelicans away for good, winning in 5 games.

Game 1 and Game 2 the Warriors imposed their dominance, winning easily at home. Game 3 was a different story as the Pelicans pulled one back thrashing the Warriors with a double digit lead win. Rajon Rondo was the catalyst for the win against the Warriors pulling the strings with an incredible 21 assists. Game 4 the Warriors woke up and won at New Orleans with a 26 point lead, that gave them the chance to win the series in 5 at home and once again advance to the Western Conference Finals.

The Defending Champions Golden State Warriors will now face the number one seeded Houston Rockets, this will be an awesome series with two of the best teams in the NBA collide. Game one of the series will be on Tuesday Philippine Time.

Questions for the Pelicans

The Pelicans had a good season even though they lost one of their key players Demarcus Cousins due to injury earlier in the season, they made a strong playoff run sweeping the 3rd seeded Portland Trailblazers in the process. The question right now could they build on the success and experience this year. The main objective for the Pelicans this off season I think is to keep Rajon Rondo, and Cousins and hope to keep healthy and once again challenge in the Western Conference.

Thanks for reading.
