ঐতিহাসিক টেস্টে পাকিস্তানের বিপক্ষে ফলোঅনে পড়েছে আয়ারল্যান্ড
নিজেদের ইতিহাসের প্রথম ম্যাচ, বৃষ্টিবাধায় পড়ার পর নিশ্চয়ই ভালো কিছুর অপেক্ষাতেই ছিল আয়ারল্যান্ড। পাকিস্তানকে প্রথম ইনিংসে ৩১০ রানে আটকে দেয়ায় বোলিংটা নিয়ে বেশ স্বস্তিতেই ছিল টেস্ট ক্রিকেটের নবীন সদস্যরা। তবে ব্যাট হাতে একেবারেই জবাবটা ভালো হয়নি উইলিয়াম পোর্টারফিল্ডের দলের।
ডাবলিনে টেস্টের তৃতীয় দিনে ১৩০ রানেই গুটিয়ে গেছে আয়ারল্যান্ডের প্রথম ইনিংস। টেস্টের প্রথম দিন বৃষ্টির পেটে যাওয়ায় ফলোঅনের সীমা নির্ধারণ হয়েছে ১৫০ রানের। ১৮০ রানে এগিয়ে থাকায় আইরিশদের দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসে ব্যাটিংয়ে পাঠিয়েছে পাকিস্তান।
ডাবলিন টেস্টে দুই দলের পার্থক্যটা ভালোভাবেই বুঝিয়ে দিয়েছে পাকিস্তান। ব্যাটিংয়ে তেমন সুবিধা করতে না পারলেও আসাদ শফিক আর ফাহিম আশরাফের জোড়া হাফসেঞ্চুরিতে ৯ উইকেটে ৩১০ রান তোলার পর ইনিংস ঘোষণা করে দেয় সফরকারিরা। জবাব দিতে নেমে পাকিস্তানী বোলারদের তোপে নিজেদের সামর্থ্যের প্রমাণ দিতে পারেনি আইরিশরা।
বোর্ডের ৭ রান উঠতেই ৪ উইকেট হারিয়ে বরং বড় লজ্জাই দেখছিল আয়ারল্যান্ড। সেখান থেকে দলকে উদ্ধার করেছেন কেভিন ও'ব্রায়েন আর নয় নাম্বারে নামা গ্যারি উইলসন। কেভিন ৪০ রানে আউট হন। তবে উইলসন শেষ পর্যন্ত অপরাজিত ছিলেন ৩৩ রানে।
পাকিস্তানের পক্ষে ৪৪ রানে ৪টি উইকেট নিয়েছেন পেসার মোহাম্মদ আব্বাস। ৩টি উইকেট শিকার লেগস্পিনার শাদাব খানের। মোহাম্মদ আমির নিয়েছেন ২টি উইকেট।
