St. Benilde Blazers, looking forward to top the standings
San Beda University's reigning titlist has recently joined the College of St.Benilde's target in today's defeat of the NCAA Season 95 Men's Basketball Tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Blazers will face the final game at 4:00 pm season host Arellano University following the first clash between Mapua University and Emilio Aguinaldo College at 2:00 pm.
The Blazers will try to secure a fifth straight win to keep the score clean and draw the Red Lions in the lead.
CSB last beat San Sebastian College on July 30, 77-72 and has since canceled three consecutive games due to bad weather and now they will be back in action.
The Chiefs, on the other hand, will find themselves back in the win column following two straight defeats, culminating on Saturday at the hands of Mapua (64-73) at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City that dropped them to the tail of the standings alongside the Generals and of the Cardinals with a 1-5 mark.
Although vacated for a long time, the CSB's cancellation of their battles against San Beda (August 2), Letran (August 6) and Jose Rizal University (August 9) is also expected to help them as they have been resting especially with main man Justin Gut is expected to play this afternoon after being sidelined by a left knee injury.
Meanwhile, like the Chiefs, Cardinals, and Generals current cellar dwellers will be able to step down from the team standings.
Mapua will try to follow up its first win on Saturday against Arellano as the Generals try to recover from a four-game losing streak.
Hopefully they can handle the pressure of being expected to top the standings. Hopefully this team manages to take the championship, that’s what matter the most.
