The premier league matchday kicked off today as usual and a handful of fixtures took place. We are now in the 8th matchday of the season and as we can see, the table is looking really interesting as there are a few teams who are surprising positions. The first part of this week’s premier league matchday 8 has just been completed and we have witnessed a handful of exciting fixtures and at the same time some great and shocking results. The outcome from the Brighton vs Tottenham fixture was a a shocking one as Tottenham got battered 3-0 at Brighton home. This defeat now compounds the problems currently at the Tottenham camp.

Liverpool vs Leicester was an interesting one as lots of eyeballs were on this fixture. As we all know, Liverpool are still the only team in the premier league that hasn’t lost any point this season. Leicester have been quite impressive this season which is why they are currently sitting in third on the table. Both teams went head to head at Anfield for their first meeting this season. This fixture proved to be a really tough match for both teams, especially for Liverpool who had a lot to play for. However, it took Liverpool seconds to the final whistle to bag all 3 points, all thanks to their last minute penalty.

It was really a tough game and a hard fought 3 points for Liverpool as we all expected it to be against a really good Leicester team. This win preserves Liverpool’s 8 wins in 8 games form this season. For this match, Liverpool stock with their usual 4-3-3 formation, while Leicester City also went with their preferred 4-3-3 formation as well.

The first half was more of Liverpool having control of the game. They created a good number of chances but couldn’t break the deadlock. Leicester City didn’t really enter into gear as they were still trying to contain Liverpool. The deadlock was finally broken around the 40th minute as Liverpool took the 1-0 first half lead. In the second half, we began to see more actions from Leicester as they pushing for an equalizer. However, the qualities in the Liverpool defense made it a difficult task for Leicester to earn any decent shot on goal. Leicester finally got their equalizing goal around the 80th minute as the game began looking destined for a draw. However, the last few minutes defensive error by Leicester allowed Liverpool to be awarded a penalty which who calmly converted by Milner to change the score to 2-1 and maintain Liverpool’s unbeaten run.

Maddison scored the only goal for Leicester City and goals from Mane and Milner were enough to give Liverpool the precious 3 points at home.
