The two most prestigious continental trophies would surely be the Champions League and the Europa League. These are the tournaments where the best teams and players battle it out for the ultimate glory. Last season, it can be said that the English teams completely stole the show. The two cups went to Chelsea and Liverpool after a wonderful victory both at the semifinals and the finals. Europe rewards those who worked hard with an extra trophy and this is the chance both teams would have as they battle for the Uefa Super Cup. It is bound to be a different environment from the EPL which just started.

Horrendous and disastrous. Those are the perfect words which can describe the start Chelsea had in the league. They were absolutely in shambles as Lampard’s side fell to a defeat in the first match of his era. Predictably, that game against Manchester United who ran out deserved 4-0 winners at Old Trafford. It can be seen to have been coming. They failed to strengthen in any area, didn't replace Eden Hazard, sold David Luiz to a rival and so much more. Now they head to the super cup hoping that the result would be as heartbreaking as this. They face a Liverpool side who is in the form of their lives. That is scary just thinking about it.

Liverpool

Liverpool is on a roll. They realize it is a ride to the death in the premier league. For them, it is much more complicated. They have to balance it with two cups which they qualify for by winning the champions league. The first cup would be the super cup and this is where this fixture comes into play. They would like to win it and add a trophy to their large collection. They would be happy with how they have started the league and the result of Chelsea would leave them fairly confident if getting the result that they want on the night.

Momentum is also in favor of the men from Anfield as they have romped into contention for the title from the very start. Life seems to be going well for the reds. A win and a new trophy would do just nicely for Klopp and his boys. A win against Chelsea is very much on the cards and there can be no doubt as to who is favorites for the win at of this moment.

Chelsea had a wonderful preseason before their painful bringing back to reality. They would now focus their attention on this game. The least they would expect would be a close game even if they are to lose this game.
