in #sprtshub6 years ago

After long wait, the English Premier League is finally testing Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for first time this week. It was tested earlier last season for FA Cup and EFL Cup, England now is testing it in premier league. It was tested for 19 games last season. Earlier this season, the PL clubs voted in the favor of using VAR technology. In response to it, the VAR will be tested for matches played at 3 PM UK time .

Following are the matches to undergo VAR for the first time in PL:

AFC Bournemouth VS Leicester City
Chelsea VS Cardiff City
Huddersfield Town VS Crystal Palace
Manchester City VS Fulham
Newcastle United VS Arsenal

All this matches will have the central VAR hub which means there will be n connection at the ground with anyone. VAR will only be used for the scenario of goals, penalty, misidentification and direct red. The PL wants the referee to gain some experience in the technology before it is implemented in regular basis.

No only Premier league, UEFA is also working to implement VAR in Champions league, and is going to be introduced by next season. It was used in World Cup at Russia and it received both the positive as well as negative feedback. But it has more positive responses and we are going to see it being used in most of the matches in future.
