The Frenchman has been looking for a way out of the club. There are a lot of reasons why the player doesn't feel like staying and Mourinho is one of them.
Martial saw his game time reduce drastically under the Portuguese and he's had to become used to seeing out games on the bench. The player has often carried a sad face but hasn't been given what he wants.
Mourinho wants the players sold but Woodward wouldn't allow that. There's a reason beyond the obvious decision by Woodward not to sell him. Manchester United doesn't want to make the same mistake they did with Paul Pogba whom had left for almost free and then returned for a record amount.
Apart from that, there's a clause in Martial's contract that Woodward and United doesn't want. Monaco had included that they would have major shares offered the player was sold by Manchester United. This would mean that even if Manchester United were to value the player at £100m, they would get less than £30 million.
