Our football celebrity for the day... Happy birthday Roy Keane

I bring to you our football celebrity of the day, he is a legend, a well respected player who is now a retired player. He’s currently working as an assistant coach for Ireland.

His name is Roy Keane, am very sure the name will ring bells to many football fans out there. He was born on the 10th of August 1971 and today makes it his 47th birthday. Keane played as a midfielder during his time as a player.

He started his football career with Rockmount in 1981 before joining senior side of Cobh Ramblers where played for a year. He joined Nottingham forest in 1990 and played till 1993 before joining Manchester United where he made his name and became very famous. He left Manchester United to join Scotland club Celtic in 2005. He played for a year in Celtic before retirement, he has since then taken the job of a manager.

He has worked as a manager with Sunderland, Ipswich Town, and Aston Villa. He also works as the assistant coach of Republic of Ireland.
Keane won 18 trophies at the club level and 17 of it came from Manchester United. He has won over 20indidvidual award as player. To crown it Roy Keane didn’t just win trophies as a player, he also won trophies as a coach. He won the championship as Sunderland manager in the 2006/07 season.

At the national level Roy Keane joined Republic of Ireland U21 back in 1991, he also played for the senior national team and now he is an assistant coach of the national team.
