Gatland Speaks Out On Tighter Schedule For Lions

in #sprtshub6 years ago

Warren Gatland has come out to sound a note of warning on the tighter schedule for the British and Irish Lions which he has noted as the reason for the increase in the risk of injury.

In 2013, Gatland led the Lions to Australia where they came off with a series win. Last summer has also seen them go on to draw with the All Blacks.

Gatland has now begun early enough, repeatedly voicing out his concerns about the tight schedule the Lions always had, especially after they had to play no less than 10 games in just six weeks when they went to New Zealand.

Gatland has stated that when the team heads out to South Africa in 2021, there’s every need for them to have more time to prepare efficiently.

Gatlans stated that in New Zealand, his biggest concern was how the team had to fly out on Monday, arrive two days later and then head out to the pitch on Saturday to play.

He noted that such style had the most likelihood of opening up players to potential injuries.

Gatland’s side, Wales will be facing Argentina as they go all out against each other on Saturday in a first Test to be played in San Juan.
