Harry Kane scored an awarded penalty in the round of 16 against Colombia which made him the first England player to net in six World Cup matches consecutively since Tommy Lawton did same in 1939.

Following Carlos Sanchez' foul, England was eventually awarded a worthy penalty after a long delay due to protests and complaints from Colombia players.

Referee Mark Geiger who first went off to consult the VAR, dutifully stood on his decision till Kane converted the penalty to a sensational goal thus bringing the Englishmen one goal up.

It was the Tottenham forward's sixth goal of the tournament and also on his debut World Cup, he equaled the number of goals ever scored by Lionel Messi in the World Cup [six goals].

The Three Lions have been tied with Sweden for the World Cup quarter final match.
