The comeback of Slaughter, Mercado and Dela Cruz for Barangay Ginebra

In the past games, Barangay Ginebra was not on their best form because some of their core players are still injured. But it is not the reason for them not to win. Currently, they are the number 1 team in the PBA Governors Cup with a current standing of 7 wins and 1 loss. Everyone on the team worked hard to get that 1st spot thats why coach Tim Cone is not worried about having 4 injured players.

Greg Slaughter, Sol Mercado, Art Dela Cruz, and Joe Devance are still injured. While Japeth Aguilar already came back and lead the team for their 7th win on their last game against Meralco Bolts where he had 37 points. Since September 5, Greg Slaughter hasnt played for Barangay Ginebra because of his ankle injury. While Sol Mercado had a meniscus surgery. For Joe Devance, he hasnt played for almost two weeks now because of a stress fracture on his left foot. While Art Dela Cruz is still recovering from an Achilles injury since last year but he is already practicing with the team.

Coach Tim Cone said that theres a possibility that Greg Slaughter and Sol Mercado will be playing for their next game on Saturday against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. This will be a great opportunity for them to have a straight win and defend the 1st spot until the playoffs. But we still dont know if Slaughter and Mercado are fully recovered and can play just like the old times. While Art Dela Cruz who were already playing on their practice match has also a big possibility that he will be joining this weekend.

Time will come that the Barangay Ginebra players will be fully recovered and they will defend again their title as a PBA champion. On Saturday, they will be playing against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Quezon Convention Center.
