Modric wins Ballon dOr | End of Messi-Ronaldo Era
The winner of 2018 Ballon dOr is Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric. With this, the era of Ronaldo or Messi has come to an end which lasted for 10 years. Ronaldo and Messi won 5 Ballon dOr during the decade of this dominance. The last player to win before Ronaldo and Messi was Kaka in 2007. Modric won Champions League with Real Madrid and took Croatia to the final of World Cup in Russia.

Ballon dOr is awarded every year and voted by journalist around the world. Cristiano Ronaldo came to second behind Modric who is now playing for Juventus. He also won Champions league for Madrid. Behind Ronaldo was World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann who plays for Atletico Madrid.
In the fourth spot was another World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe from Paris St-Germain. The five-time winner Lionel Messi came to 5th.
