Marco Asensio insists he's happy at Real Madrid and never really wanted away

The player has been in a very good form for club and country. In Tuesday's game against Croatia, he scored one goal and was involved in four others.

The player have often lived in the shadow of the other players, especially the BBC during the reign of Zinedine Zidane. However, Asensio is now living up to expectations.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2014, Asensio has scored 21 goals in as many as 95 games and many of those were from substitute appearances.

Now, with Ronaldo gone, the player is cruising on. This is despite the fact that he hasn't got a goal for Real Madrid this season.

There were speculations in the summer linking the player with a big money move away from the Bernabèu, most likely Liverpool.

However, the player has cried foul and denied he ever wanted to move. He said he's in the third year of his contract and believes this season is historically best as he's in a position of prominence.

The LA Liga Santander resumes those weekend and Real Madrid will be hoping they can maintain their 100% start to the campaign.
