Siniakova and Krejcikova, Czech Duo claim women’s doubles title
Beating Eri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya, the unseeded Japanese pair, Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova went on to claim their the Grand Slam title which is so far their first and maiden win.
It took the duo just about an hour to take down the Japanese pair.
With this, the sixth-seeded Czech snatched the doubles title from an all-Japanese pair, making it the first time such a pair would get to a major final.
This win and the accompanying women’s title was long overdue for Siniakova and Krejcikova.
Back in 2013, the duo had also gone on to capture the doubles title in the Junior category.
