How The Arrival Of Fred Could Benefit Pogba

If the most expensive player in the Red Devils squad fails to thrive in 2018/19 season, then he may as well never thrive again not just at Old Trafford but at anywhere he chooses to go next.

The player who cost Manchester United £89.6 million in 2016 has failed to live to his price and the club's expectations of him but that is understandable considering what he met at Manchester United. How so? Take your cup of coffee and enjoy the day with me.

Pogba got the attention of not just the United boss but of most of those big clubs across the Europe thanks to his domination of the Italian League midfield while he was with the Old Ladies. He was a force not to go against at the depth of the field and also at the attacking spots. However, he has not been able to convince even himself of such attributes ever since he arrived at Manchester, do you know why?

The monkey could easily jump from one tree to the other thanks to the closeness of the trees' positions.

While Paul was a threat to the attacker and the defender at the right, legendary Pirlo and Vidal were nightmares at the depth and left of the field. Pirlo gave the opposition's playmaker a puzzle to solve while Vidal possessed dangerous powers both at the front and back; moving to and fro like a swinging pendulum. That gave room for Pogba to play to his highest potential as he had nothing to be concerned about at the other ends.

Things are different in Manchester United squad. While Nemanja Matic possesses enviable confidence at the depth of the midfield for Jose Mourinho side, we have not seen a Vidal-like energy at the right. Pogba remains the only ambitious midfielder while although Herrera might also be influential being attacking minded, he does not possess an energy strong enough for Pogba to relax at his post.

While Pogba is busy seeing to his duties at the left side, he needs another reliable man at the right. And that is what the new signing, Fred is bringing to Old Trafford.

The Brazilian midfielder will be perfect at the midfield for the Mourinho's 4-3-3 preferred formation being an adventurous midfielder. And that story of playing draws or winning with just a lonely goal should change.

Fred is very influential. He has that technical ability expected of a Mourinho-team of a thing. You could have seen how he did that at Shaktar Donetsk and he has brought it with him to England.

Next season promises to be better for Manchester United. But if Pogba still fails to thrive, truth is, he may never thrive again like he did at Juventus.
