Losing a job can be quite challenging. This is because the economic situation of things are really hard. However, losing a job is a common thing in Nigeria these days. To some it is a relief because they have been pressed down with slaving for someone with a meagre salary to show for it. While for some, it is their cherished job and they feel so depressed losing it. To the latter which i find a friend in., I say take it easy.

When you lose your job, you are forced to make changes you are not prepared for, this often leaves you so sad, upset, angry and thrown off balance. However with a matter of time, you will adjust and even land yourself a better one.

WHY DO MANY FEEL BAD LOSING THEIR JOBS?
-They lose their professional identity
-They lose their self confidence
They lose their daily
-They lose their sense of security
They lose their daily income

What a pity. This may be quite a challenging and stressful experience. I once lost a job. My first first job ever. I wonder what they thought before employing me and the other colleagues. All of a sudden, we heard the company was down sizing and I was affected.I wept for about one week.

I was still living with my brother and his family. He catered for my needs, i had no need to worry yet I was sad. How bad it could be for a bread winner of a home to lose his job!

In spite of the difficulties job losers face, the situation can still be controlled and I believe they can come out of the difficult situation stronger and more resilient, with a better and renewed sense of purpose.

MY ADVICE
~Take it easy on yourself-- Even when adjusting may take time, break it by moving on. You have lost it they say, but when one door closes, another one opens. Do not wallow in self pity.

~Think about this as a temporary set back: Many successful people today have tales of set backs at one time or the other in their career. But they learned from that experience, got challenged and picked themselves up. Do not give in to worthlessness. You still have your worth in tact. You lost the job , not your worth.

~ Mingle: Reach out to people who will help you stay strong. Some who have faced similar situations before may help you to heal faster. Find out from them how they coped, what motivated them to move on. Besides they know what you are passing through and may also help you get another footing in the job market.

~Join A Club: It is not bad joining a site where jobs are advertised. You should also surround yourself with job seekers. This may be challenging because you never imagined yourself searching all over again for a job, however, this can help energize you and push you.

~Stay focused: Many idle talks, ridicule, even pressures from the family may make you lose your grip and that alone can make you lack the confidence to go on. Be focused, do not let anything prevent you from solving a problem that only you can solve for yourself. You need to do the search again yourself.

~Stay positive: Do not give room for doubt or ever think that you have suddenly become unemployable. Remain positive that you will find another one and for sure, you will find it.

~Focus on what you can control: This has a notion of simplifying your life. Upon losing the job, so many bills to pay remain there waiting. Family affairs to deal with and handle, still staring at you in the face. But you see, your situation is enough for you. Do not overwhelm your self with lot more. Do the ones you can, all can see you lost a job and haven’t landed another yet. Ensure you simplify your life and save more now.

~You could do a business. Where is the capital?, you may ask. But business is not all about money but also about what to do and the marketing strategy. Wealth creation is a mindset and poverty also is a mindset. Tell your self everyday, I CAN MAKE IT and think and do things that will help you achieve.

It is a pity you had to lose your job. I feel for you, I wept with you but brace yourself and look for other sources of income. With God’s help, you will be better and you shall tell the tales.
May God be with you and comfort you with something better.

With all my love, always

I am sorry for the loss dear but everything will be fine. A better and more secured job will come and you won't have to worry again.

Losing a job is the most difficult thing to cope with in life. This is very educative @adoore-eu

I've never lost a job before but I have heard how depressing it can be. Well the tips you shared are helpful, many are lost after they lose their jobs and with this helpful insight I think they can weather the storm

this is right, your tips are valid.

i believe this is a much more reason why people should own skills and talents so that they can adapt, adjust and also create new opportunities for themselves in case of situations such as losing a job or having your business/company shuts down
