When your child lies

Training up a child is not am an easy task because children tend to pick up bad habits easily and lying is one of the bad habits I will be discussing today.

Your child lying doesn't mean he/she is on a fast track to getting corrupt. You have to consider the reasons why he/she is telling lies. Since the mind of children is occupied with doing foolish things, we should make sure to address the issue while the child is still young. How are we going to achieve that?

Firstly, we should try to discern the reason why he/she is lying. Is it that he/she is scared of being punished or doesn't want to disappoint you the parent? Once you know the reason why he/she lied, then you will be able to correct him/her.

As you continue to train up your child, you should let him/her know that honesty is important in the family by explaining to your child how lying breaks trust. You should also endeavor to praise your child whenever they speak the truth, this will get them acquainted with telling the truth always.

Lastly, since children love to follow the things they see people doing, we should as well try to set a good example for them by always telling the truth.
