How to become the Righteousness of God is by believing on and in Jesus Christ, He's the only righteousness that God can behold, therefore, we must believe in him.
We are able to gain the righteousness of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; this can be accessed through obedience and leading of the Holy Spirit.

Why is God interested in our righteousness?
He's interested in our righteousness because we are His embodiment and we carry his life. Thus, we have to be conscious of our righteousness by submitting to the Holy Spirit.
