User Ivan Mitko calls out user Kevin Rose for presenting their own point of view as the one accepted by the majority of the community without any objective metrics like a referendum result to back up their claims. He states that this is something a lot of BPs are doing recently. He points to Kevin Rose using the sentence ‘The entire community will admit…’ and says it’s highly subjective.

User Kyle states that Starteos has gone back to admitting that they do indeed own games.eos. ‘This yes we do/no we don’t/yes we do is more than a little confusing. It’s not honest for starters. No need to translate the current update from Starteos, buying votes and running a second node is now being clearly expressed in English. Their 2nd node seems to be attracting a lot of votes. While unconstitutional, Starteos is simply opening up the same opportunity to all token holders.’ User Kyle suspects this is true and asks for proof to confirm this. He hopes that it gets brought to light and aired in public rather than private so the community can decide what we want to do about it.
After this, the channel discusses vote-buying, how to prove it, if it’s allowed or not, if it’s enforceable or not.
At some point user Raman Bindlish states: ‘Overall, this debate is useless if we can not define rules that can be enforced. And I agree with user Emma. People will just go underground and hide. Starteos if penalized, will start 3-4 nodes that you can not prove belongs to them.’
After a while user, Kevin Rose thinks we’re not looking at this correctly. ‘These BPs are building products. They are funding the development of the products through BP rewards. Investors, who probably own a lot of EOS, vote them in to fund their operations. Then they deliver the product, which is monetized, and can market it through a kickback distributed to any users who engage the product (if it’s on EOSIO).’ User Old Man: ‘Yes, and this is a bad economic model. Eventually, the products will require infrastructure or code that does not benefit the greater to community. If the BPs are essentially a bunch of DAPP devs, and private corps with shareholders etc, eventually the mainnet will become a means to maximize ROI of their dapps.’
The subject of vote-buying goes on for a long time, and a few ‘solutions’ are suggested.
User BlockchainKid: ‘To me it just sounds like our governed blockchain can’t be governed, unless you're talking about two hypothetical businesses that might agree to abide by a hypothetical contract at some point in the future, to be arbitrated by a hypothetical arbitrator in a hypothetical arbitration forum.’ User Old Man thinks the only issue is how to prove whether or not BPs are compliant. Voting takes care of the rest and third-party audits are the answer. User BlockchainKid thinks third-party audits are at odds with principle of blockchain. ‘Many BPs are having a hard time securing banking relationships. How do you have a third-party audit something when there’s nothing to audit?’ User Old Man: ‘Financials are only one part of the audit but frankly if a BP doesn’t have a bank account they shouldn’t be in the top 30.’ User Kevin Rose: ‘You have no idea how difficult this is.’ User Old Man: ‘I’ve been to a few banks wearing my crypto costume. Perhaps bank account was not the right term, if a BP does not have a clear and auditable money trail they shouldn’t be a BP. Ideally, everything would be on-chain, but near term there will be flat conversion and distribution at some point. Just has to be audited, doesn’t really matter if it’s JPM, localbitcoins or BancorX.’
