Political Genius

When you see an iconic image, you can never forget them. Tun Dr. Mahathir is one such man. He was our longest serving Prime Minister for 22 years when he helm the position as our 4th Prime Minister. Now he is back again at the age of 93 as our 7th Prime Minister and he came from the Opposition and he formed the government. Talk about a comeback. Even Captain America can't pull this off.

I did these caricatures for Yayasan University Multimedia where the beloved wife of our current Prime Minister, the ever lovely Tun Siti Hasmah was the University's Chancellor for the period 1997 till 2012. She is definitely one lady that is steadfast behind her man. She is no lesser of a leader than the man himself.

I did 3 caricatures for 3 iconic images. The first one is Tun Dr. Mahathir who is our 4th and 7th Prime Minister. His wife Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah and our former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin. Their all have played their role in the development and strongly contributed to the University.

I always refrain from commenting on politics because there are many differing view. But I cant help but state that there is a renewed zest in everyone when the opposition won the 14th General Election. Maybe the call for change was simply too strong. I am personally glad that we have a chance to strengthen our democracy and see and effective two party system.

It has never cross my mind that the person that I took photo with will one day make a political comeback and mark himself not merely in the history but as a towering figure. I call him a statesman. My admiration for him cannot be expressed in words. I personally like this picture and if given any opportunity in the future, I would gladly love to caricature an icon, a legend, a statesman and above all a great man.
