The HoboDAO Contests Begin!

The HoboDAO content submission system is beginning TODAY. We plan to accept more members into the HoboDAO over time and as we build up a strong community of DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) operators as Casters, Auditors and Senators we will grow more and more decentralized until we are at 100% decentralized operations.

The HoboDAO is a project with the mission to create the very first truly 100% decentralized curation community created within the Steem ecosystem. In a time where upvote bot services are being eliminated by free flags and an anti-bot service mentality, the HoboDAO is poised to take the lead as a top method for human-powered curation with the focus on providing high rewards for top quality content.

Casters

For the time being, we have some curators ready to review submitted content and select the daily top 5, and over time we will build up our community of Casters that do the job of reviewing and rewarding content with upvotes.

This system is a completely human-ran process with no bots. However, if you have ever used a bidbot or upvote service you will be familiar with the methods of submitting content to the HoboDAO.

The process is as simple as traditional bot services, but our content submission system works with a Steem Engine token, so you will need the Keychain wallet, or you will need to send your submission fee (with post address in memo area) through steem-engine.com.

Submit Content How?

Submitting your content or another person's content for review and possible rewards is very easy!

Step 1:

Send 500 Hobo tokens (ticker symbol: HBO) to @hobodao
[Don't send to @hobo.media or @hobo.fund, only @HOBODAO]

Step 2:

Before sending the 500 HBO tokens, please make sure to put the address of the post that you want reviewed and curated. This post does not have to be your content, but it is necessary that you make sure there are at least 3 days remaining for the post to receive curation rewards.

If you are submitting work that is not your own, if the content wins one of the top 5 spots for the day, you will receive all the token rewards, but the author will receive the 100% upvote from @hobo.media. For this reason, we don't accept any submissions on content that has gone past 4 days for curation, because authors always deserve to receive rewards for the quality of their work.

First 33 Contest Rewards

Winning contestants for our daily top 5 will receive rewards from the HoboDAO. The first 33 contests we have will give out these token and curation prizes:

1st Place - 100% Upvote / 5000 HBO / 100 NGA / 100 NATRL / Trendo Upvote (Possibly more tokens...)
2nd Place - 100% Upvote / 2500 HBO / 80 NGA / 80 NATRL / Trendo Upvote (Possibly more tokens...)
3rd Place - 100% Upvote / 1250 HBO / 60 NGA / 60 NATRL / Trendo Upvote (Possibly more tokens...)
4th Place - 100% Upvote / 625 HBO / 40 NGA / 40 NATRL / Trendo Upvote (Possibly more tokens...)
5th Place - 100% Upvote / 312 HBO / 20 NGA / 20 NATRL / Trendo Upvote (Possibly more tokens...)

Our sustainable model will allow us to regularly reward the top five contestant submissions with a 100% upvote from the HoboDAO and Hobo token rewards. Here are the sustainable rewards for our daily top 5 submissions:

1st Place - 100% Upvote / 5000 HBO / + Potential Tag Specific Upvotes
2nd Place - 100% Upvote / 2500 HBO / + Potential Tag Specific Upvotes
3rd Place - 100% Upvote / 1250 HBO / + Potential Tag Specific Upvotes
4th Place - 100% Upvote / 625 HBO / + Potential Tag Specific Upvotes
5th Place - 100% Upvote / 312 HBO / + Potential Tag Specific Upvotes

The HoboDAO reward system is powered by its partnerships with other community tokens such as Engage, Natural Products, Trendo and others. It is also powered by its many delegators known in the HoboDAO system as Delegation Miners that mine rewards in the form of Hobo tokens by delegating to the HoboDAO main curation account: @hobo.media.

How To Obtain HBO?

You can mine HBO tokens! There is a growing number of people participating in the HoboDAO mining process on the Steem blockchain. But, what exactly is the mining system for the HoboDAO? Let's get into how you can mine Hobo tokens and why some people are attracted to doing it.

The HoboDAO has a unique reward system called Delegation Mining. Currently, delegators are being rewarded with 500 Hobo tokens for every 5 SP delegated, but on 9/01/2019 rewards will be 250 HBO every 5 SP delegated, and continue to halve again the following month.

Don't have a lot of SP? Not a problem, with as little as 5 SP delegated to the HoboDAO (@hobo.media) you can join in and start being rewarded in HBO tokens despite having a small amount of SP.

Become A Hobo token Miner:

Delegate 5 SP to HoboDCC HERE (250 HBO Month Reward for 9/2019)

Delegate 50 SP to HoboDCC HERE (2500 HBO Month Reward for 9/2019)

Delegate 100 SP to HoboDCC HERE (5000 HBO Month Reward for 9/2019)

Delegate 200 SP to HoboDCC HERE (10000 HBO Month Reward for 9/2019)

Delegate 500 SP to HoboDCC HERE (25000 HBO Month Reward for 9/2019)

The Hobo tokens that you were selected to receive regularly to support your high quality work are usable as a consumable or utility token for entry into daily contests. Each day the top 5 posts will be reviewed by the Casters, our decentralized human team of curators, and the top 5 of the submitted posts will be rewarded. Please feel welcome to join in and submit your articles to the HoboDAO by sending 500 Hobo tokens to @hobodao with the address of your post or another person's post with at least 4 days remaining for curation rewards.

The Hobo token is a consumable token or utility token exclusively for use in covering entry fees into daily content contests. The Hobo token is a decentralized cryptoasset outside of the control of its original issuer and the valuation for the Hobo token fluctuates according to market demand. The Hobo token is not to be considered a security token and its original issuer does not offer voting rights, dividends, buybacks or any other traditional benefits of a security. The Hobo token price is completely determined by the open market according to supply and demand and may never have value.

Please refrain from buying votes and give honest curation a fair chance for everyone

@trafalgar isn't that hypocritical when you upvoted and resteemd kevinwong's post? Because he used bidbots and got his post to the top of trending. Why did you not have a problem with that?

I absolutely would have downvoted it had he bought any non trivial votes

smartsteem is now a curation only initiative (unlike smartmarket)

there's no transaction pointing ocdb to that post, it likely would have been manual curation when their mana is full and there's no buyers, something they do from time to time

Speaking of honest curation (and acknowledging the importance in attracting the support of whales), will you check out the @freewritehouse and consider supporting us with your honest curative vote? We've built a community that supports good people, many of them small users who engage across the platform, all of whom improve their writing skills through the exercises and contests we host (though many don't realize they're improving their skills until they look back at their work from when they began. It's wonderful to see their retrospectives!). Check us out and check out the users who work with us!

To be honest I'm not a fan of steem basic income and view it as some elaborate form of a vote trading/vote selling scheme.

These things really undermine honest curation in the long run. If people write well enough they should have enough confidence in this place to know that through persistence and consistency in quality, your writing will gradually get more notice and bubble up to the surface.

Your feelings on SBI aside, I'm asking about your support for the @freewritehouse community.

While I disagree wholeheartedly with your assessment of SBI, I'd like to separate that from the idea of supporting @freewritehouse with your curation if you like the work we do.

Posted using Partiko Android

It's quite difficult to do as I'd be inadvertently supporting a scheme that serves to undermine this ecosystem

Maybe if I run into some of the freewrite participants organically without knowing it's part of the SBI ring. But I can't do it directly as supporting vote selling schemes, even those that provide good content, inevitably leads to a deteriorating of content over time.

ie. If vote selling pays more than curation, over time who's going to curate? Without curators, what is the incentive to produce good content? As you can see it's just a downward spiral that prevents me from supporting even 'good' content participating in these schemes

I see. We disagree entirely on what SBI is, both in purpose and practical application, but I respect that you are acting on your beliefs. If you're ever interested in why I think SBI is good for Steem, let me know! I'm around!

I am. Right now.

I'm open to the possibility that I'm wrong and that it's not, at least in part, an elaborate vote selling/vote trading scheme.

Whenever you're handing out votes for reasons other than your subjective appraisal of content but instead, for example, an amount proportional to their delegation or the 'share' they have of a voting account, then you're at least in part undermining honest curation. And that's exactly what I think SBI is, even if it has the most benign intentions (which could be the case).

But I'm right here to have my mind changed. Maybe a high level explanation of how the scheme works and why it doesn't effectively do what I just stated is a start. Its intentions are irrelevant (eg. discovering, supporting and retaining good writers), only its economic effects please.

Excellent!
I'm about to go to bed, so I'll just start with point one and leave the rest for tomorrow.

Point one is this: in hf21, niche content suffers disproportionately from the new curve. If I like something but I know it's not widely popular, voting for it is the economic wrong choice. It's going to be way down on the rewards pendulum, so my otherwise $0.10 vote is worth only $0.05. It under-rewards the author relative to my stake, and if I'm trying to make good choices for curation and play the game of honest curation you're promoting, I'm going care that I get less in curation rewards, too. I can instead sponsor that user for SBI and get 50% curation, and know that I'm giving them the same value as if they were posting about things that were mainstream popular. I think of this like the subscriber model on Twitch.

That's use case 1. Feel free to respond, but I'm going to bed and will write more tomorrow.

hi @hobo.fund

It's very clear that you've a long term vision, which may be a bit difficult to grasp. However it's also very clear that you're building strong community around HOBO very efficiently. Great to be part of it.

I kind of understand the vision, however I'm still not sure how would you create value for your token. After all many people may wonder exactly the same question: if I buy HBO today, how can I sell it "tomorrow"? Who and why would buy it from me.

I understand that you will be rewarding those who participate with the token. However i'm still failing to understand where demand would be coming from for those tokens in the future. Do you have some ideas? Just curious. Not trying to be negative.

our content submission system works with a Steem Engine token, so you will need the Keychain wallet, or you will need to send your submission fee (with post address in memo area) through steem-engine.com.

I never used keychain wallet so far (still using steemconnect mostly since I've learned to trust this tool).
So I'm just sending 500 HBO to @hobodao with link to latest publication by my friend @lanzjoseg:
"Can artificial intelligence help with the selection of good content, to use manual healing?"

Let's see what will happen :)

1st Place - 100% Upvote / 5000 HBO / 100 NGA / 100 NATRL / Trendo Upvote (Possibly more tokens...)

Ok, that's confusing.
100% upvote = upvote from @hobo.media with 25k SP, right?
NGA and NATRL - those are probably some tribes?
What is TRENDO UPVOTE?

Strong upvote on the way! Catch :)
Yours,
Piotr

Hello @crypto.piotr,

I have tried to explain how the project works to you several times, I am afraid you might just need a translation of some of the posts made about it in your native language.

Hopefully, this explains it:

The Hobo token is a consumable token designed to allow you entry into daily contests.

It might never become worth any value beyond that, as the disclaimer in the post mentions. If more and more people delegate to this project to receive Hobo tokens in order to use them for contests then the influence of the HoboDAO will increase and people will become more and more interested in entering our contests.

If people believe in supporting a human-powered curation program that seeks to be decentralized and ran by many members of the Steem community, they might be interested in participating in the HoboDAO or delegating.

No promises of future value are being made by the HoboDAO. The Hobo token is a consumable token, and ideally, people would simply use them to get added visibility and rewards for their posts.

After the changes with Steem, most authors will not be receiving large rewards in STEEM due to the under $10 penalty that drastically reduces rewards. For this reason, the HoboDAO contest system allows people to receive additional tokens if the curator group (Casters) select them.

Disclaimer:
Hobo tokens are a consumable utility token. They are only used to submit work to the HoboDAO and they may have no value. Hobo tokens are not a security token/tokenized security and do not offer you voting rights, dividends, or a buy-back policy. You cannot stake Hobo tokens in order to obtain more or gain interest. Hobo tokens are not an investment asset and should be used specifically for entry into contests.

Hi @hobo.media

Indeed you explained to me your vision few times and I'm slowly and steadily learning to understand it. I'm sure you're aware that HoboDAO project is very complex. I hope you don't have an impression that I'm wasting your time.

It's a bit like puzzle. I'm putting all pieces together and I think finally I'm starting to understand what you're trying to achieve and how do you want to bring value into your token. I really appreciate your time and patience.

After the changes with Steem, most authors will not be receiving large rewards in STEEM due to the under $10 penalty that drastically reduces rewards.

Have you (by any chance) tested what's the difference in your payout assuming 2 scenariod: once that you almost reached that level and then once you went above?

Yours,
Piotr

I'm afraid that I have not tested it directly, I am going off information from others that have made these statements. I apologize for any possible inaccuracies.

Here are some Trendo tokens. You will need to have keychain wallet or go to steem-engine.com in order to see them. They exist on the Steem sidechain called Steem Engine. :)

Did you really announce a “no bot” curation effort by using a bunch of bid bots on it? Wow.. just wow.

@justineh I have never had a problem with bot services, however, I do believe in decentralizing the process, and bots are not decentralized.

More importantly, the aim of our project is supporting quality content through a contest submission system. However, one needs to be realistic, Steem is very poorly designed for organic discovery. Projects need visibility, and logical-minded people will utilize the tools necessary to obtain that visibility.

I am not staunchly opposed to the bot services and I never have been. But I believe the HoboDAO is a better concept and I am working to introduce this new idea to the Steem community. I will gladly use any tools that accomplish this, because I am not a utopian idealist, I am an unapologetic free market supporter.

That said, I hope that any differences we may have in ideals will not effect you from looking into the value of this project. My ideals are my own, but the HoboDAO is meant to be decentralized and separate of my own ideals and opinions.

I’ve read about your project, it’s a curation/vote buying project based on submission. Many like this already exist, it’s not revolutionary. You just use words to make it sound as such. Saying “Decentralized” repeatedly does not make something revolutionary.

Good luck with your project, I’m all about curation.. but making a big fuss as you received a downvote due to using promotion bots should not be shocking. Promotion should cost money, and if all you wanted was exposure then you would be content in that.

Good luck.

@justineh This project is not the same as any of the others. It currently is still in the process of decentralizing, and while it is not brilliant, it is unique. And it is not a vote buying system, it is a contest. Writing contests involve submission fees.

The concept of the HoboDAO is to utilize multisignature accounts to create a DAO on Steem. Casters share posting access, Auditors share active access and manage the tokenomics of the DAO, Senators share governance over the other two groups and can adjust policy and remove bad actors. At the same time, we also have a whitelist operators token as a checks and balance set allowing Casters to be watchful of misbehaving Senators as well.

It might not be ingenious, but it is the first of its kind on Steem. The other "decentralized" concepts are, well, not. Most projects are just trails, teams with a bot or communities with a discord server. The HoboDAO is complex and slower, but those that prize decentralization and fairness will value it.

As for the point on the downvote, I am well in my rights to express my free speech to label them tyrannical and aggressive behavior, because that is what I genuinely see them as. Many people on this platform do not share my viewpoints, fine. However, the communities trying to force others to do things their way will only hurt Steem. The HoboDAO is a concept of supporting quality on Steem without aggressive behavior. There are better ways.

People are buying your token and then paying for a small group of individuals to review it and vote. Lots of big words don’t make it better, it’s just fluff to make it sound unique.

As I said, good luck.

That is not true. That is slander. It is a contest, not all people submitting their work will receive a reward. Only the top 5 for each contest will receive rewards. That means that it is about putting the highest quality on the top and boosting quality work.

It is not a simple process of submitting work and getting value back, you have get into the top 5 for that contest. Have you ever done writing contests? They have submission fees to cover the cost of people reviewing the work. Only a select few obtain any rewards out of it.

Please stop trying to make this project appear worse or less than it in fact is.
