Steem Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 11 Preview

in #steem5 years ago

In this gameweek 11 review I decided to take a look at which teams have the best upcoming fixtures. This should help you as manager when deciding which players you should invest in in the coming weeks. For managers that are thinking about wildcarding it could be wise to fit in at least a few players with good fixtures even if they are playing in “weaker” teams.

Teams with good upcoming fixtures:

West Ham

Next 11: BUR (H), HUD (A) , MCI (H), NEW (A), CAR (H), CRY(H),FUL (A), WAT (H), SOU (A), BUR (A), BHA (H)

West Ham is the team with the best upcoming fixtures. A home match against Manchester City in gameweek 14 is the only match against a big six club before New Year. West Hams’ defence has improved since their bad start to the season and they haven’t conceded more than one goal in a Premier League match since Gameweek 3. Beside defenders also Fabianski (4.5m) could be a good cheap set and forget goalkeeper. In attack Arnautovic (7.0m), if fit, could become a great attacker to own. I could see him be one of the top three or four forwards that score most points from now until New Year.

Brighton

Next 6: EVE (A), CAR (A), LEI (H), HUD (A), CRY(H), BUR (A)

With three successive clean sheets and with six good fixtures coming up next Brighton is a team to look at if you are searching for good priced differential defenders or goalkeeper. It’s hard to believe the can keep their goal clean forever but let say that three clean sheets from their next six games shouldn’t be impossible. Up front the forever young Glenn Murray (6.5m) has already scored six goals and there’s nothing that indicates he couldn’t keep on scoring against their next six opponents.

Cardiff City
Next 6: LEI (H), BHA (H), EVE (A), WOL (H), WHU (A), SOU (H)

Cardiff City may not be the sexiest team in the league and I know that there won’t be a massive interest in their fantasy assets even though fixtures looks good. But if you are looking for something different and for example a cheap fifth midfielder one of Josh Murphy (4.8m) or Victor Camarasa (4.5m) could be your man.

Newcastle United

Next eight: WAT (H), BOU (H), BUR (A), WHU (H), EVE (A), WOL(H), HUD (A), FUL (H)
Newcastle have been really disappointing so far and there’s really nothing but fixtures that tell you to invest in Newcastle players. Newcastle have only three points from ten games so far and have scored only six goals. The Magpies have lost all five of their home matches this season but have shown defensive improvement since their fixtures turned for the better in Gameweek 9. In the last two matches, only five clubs have allowed fewer big chances than the Magpies. With Rafael Benitez’s as manager you could expect Newcastle to be solid at the back against lower ranked teams and therefore investing in Newcastle defenders shouldn’t be the worst thing you could do.

Leicester City

Next five: CAR (A), BUR (H), WHU A), WAT (H), FUL (A)

Leicesters’ chances of keeping a few clean sheets in the next five Gameweeks, with opponents like Cardiff, Burnley, West Ham and Fulham should be good. At the same time there should be good possibilities for attacking options like Jamie Vardy (9.0m) and James Maddison (7.0m) to get back to scoring points. It’s yet to bee seen how the terrible accident last weekend have affected the team and the players. Before knowing that it could be best to stay away from Leicester City assets.

Match previews:

Arsenal - Liverpool

A big match on Emirates between two top four clubs in the league at the moment. Arsenal are aiming to extend an eight-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, while Liverpool don’t even know what it feels like to lose a game this season. Arsenal are looking for their first PL victory over Liverpool in seven attempts but with Jurgen Klopp on the opponents bench there’s not much that talk in Arsenals’ favour. Klopp is unbeaten in his five PL matches against Arsenal and would love to see that run continue.

From a fantasy point of view we should expect goals and attacking returns from our offensive Pool or Gunners players. In the last five PL meetings between these teams have produced 27 goals, an average of 5.4 per match.

A player to have an eye on in this match is Roberto Firmino. Firmino has both scored and assisted in each of his last three PL matches against Arsenal. If he does that once again on Saturday he would become the first player to do so in four consecutive matches against an opponent in Premier League.

Arsenal are going in to the match with many injury doubts, especially in defence. Mohamed Elneny (thigh), Laurent Koscielny (Achilles) and Dinos Mavropanos (groin) are injured while doubts over Nacho Monreal (hamstring), Hector Bellerin(thigh), Sokratis (ankle) and Sead Kolasinac (hamstring) are all doubts and will all face late fitness tests. Matteo Guendouzi is suspended for this game.

Liverpool will have to cope without midfielders Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita (both hamstring).

Possible starting lineups:
Arsenal: Leno; Lichtsteiner, Holding, Mustafi, Xhaka; Torreira, Ramsey; Iwobi, Ozil, Aubameyang; Lacazette

Liverpool: Alisson; Gomez, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson; Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane

Wolves - Spurs

The first thing you notice when reviewing this match is the odd kick off time, 19.45 (UK time) on a saturday evening. Wolverhampton Wanderers, that were the team that didn’t seem to be able to concede goals a few weeks back are now aiming to recover from back-to-back defeats. The opponent,Tottenham Hotspur are also seeking a return to winning ways after their loss to Manchester City.
Spurs usually not lose against promoted teams and haven’t done so in their last 38 PL matches against promoted sides. Wolves on the other hand are not used to win over top-half teams and haven’t done so in 25 attempts. Adding to this that Harry Kane up front has scored 25 PL goals against promoted sides since the start of 2014/15, six more than any other player, Wolves really have to do something different to beat Spurs.

Wolves biggest problem this season have been their inability to score goals. In their last two matches against Watford and Brighton they didn’t score and they have also failed to score more than two goals in a single game all season. Nuno's team have not netted a first-half goal since the opening day. This is something they need to change if they should be able to send Spurs back home to London without points.

Nuno is unlikely to make any changes to his backline or midfield, but Cavaleiro (5.3m) could get his first Premier League start of the season alongside Jota and Jimenez in their three man attack.

For Spurs Vertonghen remains out injured but Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen could start after starting against West Ham in their EFL win in midweek. Heung-Min Son will also hope for a starting spot after scoring twice at London Stadium.

Possible starting lineups:
Wolverhampton Wanderers:Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Neves, Moutinho, Jonny; Cavaleiro, Jota, Jimenez

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies; Dier, Dembele; Moura, Alli, Lamela; Kane

Steem-pick

After failing with King (6.4m) last weekend I will now try my luck with another player that have been injured in recent weeks, Arnautovic (7.0m). Even though he has played only three out of four games in last four gameweeks he has managed a total of six shots on target, joint-top ranked among FPL forwards. Arnautovic’s opponents this weekend, Burnley, have conceded 208 shots, more than any other side in the league. Arnautovic is according to his manager Pellegrini ready to start. I just have the feeling that he will be on the scoresheet in gameweek 11. I you are feeling the same, take a look at his upcoming fixtures, buy him and do not sell him before next year.

My first decent week last week, had to use the triple captain for it though :)

Who did you triple captain? I captained Robertson and thankfully he didn't play and my vice captain was Mané, haha. Was also my first decent week ever since I dropped from #1 in the Steem league...

Salah, Mane was the better and luckier choice for you! :D

I'm nowhere this season, scraped a prize last year though. Sounds like you'll pick up something this year, i'll need a miracle though!

surely you can't think this amount of ass kissing is going to work, can you?
