Steem Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 22 Review

in #steem5 years ago

Gameweek 22 around the corner and the hectic Christmas period behind. Ahead of gw 22 I take a look at which clubs have the strongest and weakest runs of league matches over the coming weeks.
The good
Tottenham
Next six: MUN, ful, WAT, NEW, LEI, bur
All six of Spurs next opponents are among the bottom 11 teams for shots in the box conceded over the last six Gameweeks, with Watford, Newcastle and Fulham in the bottom five for attempts on target allowed over that period. No side has kept as many clean sheets as Spurs in the last six Gameweeks. Noticeable is that Son Heung-min (8.8m) exits for the Asian Cup after Gameweek 22 and it remains to be seen how his departure affects Spurs’ attacking potential.
Liverpool
Next six: bha, CRY, LEI, whu, BOU, mun

Liverpool are only one of three teams who avoid a “big six” side in the next five Gameweeks (the others being Everton and Southampton). Even though fixtures really looks tasty for attacking returns Liverpool will be up against teams (the next three Gameweeks) that might not be as vulnerable as it seems. Brighton, Palace and Leicester rank in the top seven sides for fewest big chances conceded since the beginning of December. If this really means anything when playing Liverpool attackers is yet to be seen. This could be the time to buy Liverpool defenders or even doubling up on them. Liverpool have already kept 12 clean sheets in the 2018/19 and their upcoming fixtures most definitely offer the possibility of further clean sheets.

Everton
Next six: BOU, sou, hud, WOL, wat, MCI

Everton has got, on paper at least, good upcoming fixtures and there should be both clean sheets and attacking returns. Recently though, Everton has struggled a bit and haven’t for example a single clean sheet in the last eight Gameweeks. Attack wise they should do well and be able to score goals. In the first half of the season they scored against all of their next six opponents, including Manchester City at the Etihad.

Southampton
Next seven: lei, EVE, CRY, bur, CAR, ars, ful

Southampton are the team, I would say, with the best fixtures i the next seven gameweeks. Here you could find some real bargains, if you believe they can find some form under their new manager. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s teams will face four of the six teams that have allowed the most shots on target in 2018/19, including Arsenal, who they scored three goals against in December.

Cardiff City
Next six: HUD, new, ars, BOU, sou, WAT

Cardiff have also got great fixtures but Cardiff as a teams aren’t, at least not yet a particularly popular team from a Fantasy perspective, with not one of their outfield players being owned by more than 4% of FPL managers. If you are looking for differential for the upcoming gameweeks, Cardiff players could be the way to go.

The bad
The three following teams have got awful upcoming fixtures and I wouldn’t necessary be interested in owning players from these teams, even less buying. But for example Bournemouth’s attacking players have previously shown they can score against all teams in the league, so even if they’ve got four “big six” teams i their next eight games nothing says that players like Wilson and Fraser can’t deliver.
Leicester City
Next six: SOU, wol, liv, MUN, tot, CRY

Bournemouth
Next eight: eve, WHU, CHE, car, liv, WOL, ars, MCI

Newcastle United
che, CAR, MCI, tot, wol, HUD

Steem-pick
This week I’m expecting premium attackers like Salah, Hazard and Aubameyang to deliver but one player that I have a ”feeling” for myself, as an non-Salah owner at the moment, is Firmino (9.2m) who I think will deliver with Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures in mind. Firmino has gone under the radar for long periods this season but it seems like he’s starting to find last season form. He has scored 102 FPL points overall and sits fourth among forwards. He has scored four goals in his last two matches. I’m not expecting too many goals for Liverpool away to Brighton but it just feels like this is a match where Firmino will score. Firmino is my steem-pick for gw 22.

I have made some ground in last five gameweeks. Three 68 scores and one 72 haul means I am 73rd in SFPL and heading towards top 50. If things go well, I may end up in top 20 again. Hopefully. But too competitive this season at the top. Wonder if we have inactive Steem users in top positions. That would create some chance.

Oh nice 🔥

M Salah is the only player on my team that keeps me alive, the rest are not playing well. I'll have to clean the team hehehe

Hahahaha! Mo is a big savior!
