It is commonplace now for me to bring you a slice of positivity to the blockchain each and every single day. Today is no different. Steem is a wonderful piece of technology that has life changing and world changing aspects to it. The fact that steem is currently valued at 71 cents does not begin to accurately describe the value of the blockchain and what it can do for us. The token is just a bi-product of the blockchain activity and is also vital to the activity of the blockchain, but this is not about economics, not today anyway! So, let's get into it!

Real value is found in use

Steem is always in the top three most used blockchains (according to transactions/day sourced by blocktivity.info). It is averaging over a million transactions a day. That is more than 10 transactions / second, and it can handle way more than that.

As far as blockchains are concerned, they are in their infancy. The amount of regular users on steem can be likened to the population of a decent , but not massive, sized city. There is only going to be 25 people at the front of the line in all of the grocery stores, another 10 at shops and hardware stores and each transaction happens over the course of a few minutes. The coffee shops might only process a payment a minute. You see where I am going here. There just is not enough traffic at the current state to achieve massive amounts of transactions. Steem can handle way more than what we are throwing at it.

All of the investors and speculators in crypto land are doing a disservice to the currency. Value is not found in thinking something is going to be worth something. Real value is found in its usefulness. Sure, there will always be people that hold onto gold as a "store of value" but it isn't really inherently valuable. When the zombies are banging down your door, you'll be a lot more happy that you have a lock, a shotgun or a fridge. These are useful items. The value is evident in their usefulness.

Steem is useful as a tool of liberation from tyranny. We have no brass here to tell us what is allowed, or to steal our personal information and sell it tot he highest bidder. It also means there is no big brother that is following everything that everybody says here. Steem is a blockchain that can process transactions on a blockchain ledger... this means that everything is provable and transparent. Steem is capable of handling a full blown economy of operations, it can become a global currency on a global scale. Steem is great for communication, community, information sharing, social interaction, gaming, entertainment... everything. It is SUPER useful.

That means that steem is also SUPER valuable. Don't let the speculators fool you! There is a lot more value in this blockchain than what t he price tag shows.
