Drop It Like It's Hot!

There are positive and negative energy on here during this tanking of the cryptocurrency market. My silly cryptocurrency portfolio is in the red, red, red! I’m to blame really because I learned about cryptocurrency during the end of 2017, the absolute peak for everything. The FOMO is real, I can attest to that! Back then, I justified investment into the cryptocurrency world by saying I would use discretionary income, meaning, no buying of pretty dresses and shoes. Let’s just say, I have not bought one pair of sandals this summer 😢.

I’ve recently reached 500 SP but no milestone post from me because more than half of my SP wasn’t earned. It was obtained from purchasing STEEM on the exchange. I invested in Steem when it was $5, again at $2, more at $1.20..you get the drift. However, I am still very appreciative to the individuals that have shown support to me on my journey, as evidenced in my Who are Your Supporters? post.

The price of STEEM is dropping daily and I am okay with this movement. I would LOVE for it to drop down some more. Yes, my prior investments would be a loss, BUT it would be a great opportunity to build up stake in this platform.

There is abuse and hypocrisy on here, which makes me wonder at times why I bother spending time to write a post. Even ‘community accounts’ are subjective to human greed.

STINC, get rid of comment upvotes altogether! P.S., are we to regard higher reputations with respect?

Would require a hardfork, you say? Perhaps tweak @abh12345’s Obvious/Cunning feature for Auto content creation and self-vote and apply it to comment upvotes. At least make it easier for people to auto-vote on the 6th day!

Despite the abuse and hypocrisy, there are still individuals invested in building Steem into a better platform so the words ponzi scheme is not the first words being said from anyone outside the Steem community.

Steem is promising with exponential potential as a social media/blogging blockchain, and now, throw in gaming with @steemmonsters. Why wouldn’t I want to invest in it some more?

I missed out on being an earlier investor but will continue to invest in Steem, so please cryptocurrency higher-beings, have STEEM continue to go down in price and drop it like it’s hot!

On a personal note, my limited number of posting activity is not contributed to seeing the decreasing price of Steem. I very much ‘believe in the system’. Most days, I simply have no topics of interest to share with my awesome fans on here 😉. I could write 4 posts a day and show my support to the Steem blockchain, but really, then the subject of conversation becomes repetitive...imo.

On another side note, I will be going on vacation for a few weeks. My one/two posts a week was challenging enough, so my post count will likely drop as well. I am visiting the west coast and felt like sharing some Snoop D-double G!

Subject is not meant to be investment advisory. Recall the red, red, red! Please do your own research. If new to cryptocurrency, my recommendation is to start with discretionary funds.

My picture/gif conversation for today...

I dont understand why its bad to upvote yourself. Most of us have worked so hard to get where we are and if we still give more to others then we give ourselves whats wrong with that. And like you said doing it on the 6th day i dont see it as a bad thing.

Hey @aloha-creations. Self-voting is a matter of preference. Personally, I don't view self-voting in a negative light because as you said, people work hard for their stake, or they invested wisely early on. They can choose to use their stake however they choose.

Steemit market itself as a platform where users are paid for their 'quality content'. IMO, comments such as above are not quality content. Now it becomes a discussion of gaming the reward system. Should comments be worth $5, $80? Why then, should I spend time writing a post?

The act of self-voting (100%) from an alt account or doing so on comments on the 6th day (to keep it under the radar) is simply hypocrisy.

Oh yeah thats stupid, no comment should pay that much .. i dont care how much someone said.. i gave up on self voting lol in my case its point less until i hit 500 .

At this point im just doing the platform for fun, think you were the one that said it as well. Lol because its so hard to blog over 100+ words and get a turn out lol. 👊

I do remember saying enjoy your time on here. 🙂 Many people continue to stay for the community and they also have faith this platform will be great. For now, we chug along and contribute what we can!

Respect for holding off on the 4 posts a day theme. For me, it's really not worth it - unless you have a raft load of SP (and vote hunting fans), one solid post each day is enough.

Thanks for the mention, found without Gina this time as I'm trying to reach all the cool people and see what's cooking on their blogs.

Enjoy your holidays @beeyou!

I wouldn't even know what topics to blog about with 4 posts a day. Perhaps I will try out steepshot and share my beautiful views of the west coast? 😉

I may have missed commenting on your COM post, but did enjoy the read. Thanks for the best wishes. It will be another week until my vacation, but with my little one's birthday coming up, and family gatherings, it was best to put my 'out of office' notice now.

-- You would be the only reason for not wanting Steem to drop in price. One steep decline, with everything quickly going back up is an ideal situation. I hope you are enjoying your summer @abh12345!

I bought all my STEEM/SP around this price or lower so I'm good in that regard, cashing out for living atvthesw prices was not part of the plan though. If I had fiat I would be starting to buy in now.

A steepshot a day keeps the bear away, maybe 😁

You got what you wanted lol. I started here when it was 10 cents. I hope we don't go all the way back to that!

Woohoo, I made it in time to comment before the 7 day period. I want it to drop some more @old-guy-photos. Is that wishfulthinking? ;) Your 10 cents price sounds awesome actually. I can't believe you were in that early. One of the early believers of this platform. If only I had been interested in crypto back then. I would definitely have invested my stake on here.

Love this post. ❤️

Yeah, I’ve been expecting Steem to sink and hoping it sink some more to make it attractive enough for me to invest. Not a lot mind you, but it’ll be my own money and not the silly money I barely make an effort to earn and then give away. 🤣

Maybe I’ll start taking the value of crypto more seriously the moment that $200 was a pair of nice boots I could have bought. So I’m sorry you don’t get to buy your shoes, us and our first world problems my husband likes to make fun of me about all the time. lol

I have a lot of faith in STEEM, but I suspect I’ll invest in the end out of sentimentality because there are people here I wish I could support more. So there’s that too. I want to have more stake to help (in a small way)others. Because more than anything, I see Steem as a way to give back to those we admire, those we want to help and it is a quick and easy way to make someone smile. That’s worth investing in.

Although, thanks to STEEM, I also grow more interested in other currency. 😉. It’s likely I won’t put it all in STEEM, but it’s still my first love as far as crypto in that it got me interested. I’ll always keep a presence here, even when I’m a cranky bitch.

As for self voting, I ponder more and more if I should. But I still freak out when I forget busy has it as a default, and it’s just something that’s hard to untrain myself from. I need to get more hardnose and self interested on this platform. Probably not what you intended for this post. hehehe

Hey Linny. Always nice when we get to chat. Steem is my first crypto as well, so we share the same sentiments. No need to tell you we think the same way with wanting to support the friends we’ve made on here. There is only so much discretionary income that can be diverted for investment though. Any real investment would have to be long term and that’s a tougher decision. We both don’t post much so to grow, we really do have to go the investment path and start using our upvotes wisely.

As for self votes, I think people should maximize their investment as they wish. The examples above are self votes on comments (via alt acct or 6th day voting). Kinda defeats the purpose of writing a post when you can simply give yourself a comment upvote in those amounts. If that is the Steemit way to success, then stinc should let us all know!

I’m trying to not be so prissy myself about self-voting. Even try to limit giving comment upvotes. We have such small upvote worth and should really spend our upvotes on posts instead of comments. I say I will stop but it’s hard to not do so because some of us don’t post often. That’s the only form of support we can show.

Probably not what you intended for this post

I have no direction with my post so any thoughts are welcomed!

Have a wonderful vacation and I hope to see some pics, maybe even a #walkwithme :) xoxoxo Thanks for always staying so positive @beeyou! <3 <3 This is just the beginning...of something great.

Thanks @lyndsaybowes. We’re just going from one city life to another, but on opposite sides of the country. No beautiful scenery like Nova Scotia, sadly. Will share pics if we do anything exciting! Hear hear to great beginnings! 🙂

In the end, the way I see it Steem is a play on crypto as a whole - particularily as theyre all paired against BTC and relatively interchangeable with each other. Yet unlike most coins, Steem has a real world use case and a development environment that is strengthening in application every day.

Long after xyz token disappears from having no use other than as a speculation tool with limited adoption, Steem will continue to allow users a forum of communication on an SEO optimized platform. And thats just Steemit. Just the possibility of advertising alone should yield an enduring form of imbued value.

I see this fall as an opportunity to shake out those who dont believe in the platform and allow a more affordable entry for those who truly see its long term value.

The d.tubes, steemmonsters, funditions, utopians, and etc that have only begun to lay a beautiful foundation of this new universe remain an admirable testament to date. In just about 3 years, Steem is just now beginning to give a glimpse of a new Internet where everyone can partake in the creation of value rather than be exploited by a corporations enslaved to wealthy elites.

Hi @investingpennies. I know you got into Steem at a good time last year so I do appreciate you stopping by to share your insight.

Yet unlike most coins, Steem has a real world use case and a development environment that is strengthening in application every day.

Let me not tell you how many ICO or crap coin I invested in that is now in oblivion. 😩

You hit the mark here. Such big potential here that engages the end user/investor. Developers are incentivized to create. Artists and writers are encouraged to share their work. Charismatic individuals are rewarded for producing videos. There is something for everyone.

In just about 3 years, Steem is just now beginning to give a glimpse of a new Internet where everyone can partake in the creation of value

All we need now is to call forth the sleeping whales to help curate and support the creativity on here. ;)

Your post made me re-think the 'comment' voting feature @beeyou . I've used it to up-vote the few 'true' followers I have who may not post very often, yet remain active curating and commenting on my posts.

I also had been running a weekly 'writing contest' of 'low' participation and lack of most interacting with 'other' participants, so I would up-vote the 'active' participants as a show of support.

Regards,
@averageoutsider

Hi @averageoutsider. I too try to show support with comment upvoting, but with our upvote worth at this Steem price being so low, the smart thing to do is to save upvotes for posts. We will kill our VP trying to give at least 2 to 3 pennies for the vote to count.

I say that but I still do comment upvotes myself, lol. That’s because like you, many of my friends don’t post much and it is my way of showing support.

A compromise woul be to keep comment upvotes but limiting the worth to say..20 cents would be ideal. Just as we tip 20% in the real world, the same methodology should be on here. That way people won’t abuse the reward pool, as many are obviously doing.

Appreciate you stopping by!

Thanks for your input; much appreciated. Have a happy day.

Thank you! Have a great day as well!

come for the crypto stay for the community =)

Definitely a better slogan. The sentiment is already there for us users.

I'm with you @beeyou and couldn't possibly post 4 times a day, let alone once a day for that matter! Sorry about your investment timing too :) You just caught up in the excitement haha

Where are you going on vacation? I'm sure you're getting pretty excited about it! And yo, Snoop Dog! Nice choice :)

I am hoping my investment, no matter how crappy the timing, will pay off in the long run.

I’m going to Cali for a weddding. It shall be interesting because the kids are in for a long plane ride! Believe it or not, I used to bump to Snoop in my teens. Not much anymore. Can’t imagine what my suburban neighbors would think if I were to blast some OG songs on my boombox iPhone home dock. 😁

hahaha @beeyou, I just had a vision of you with your kids, out for a walk, with the boombox on your shoulder lol

California will be nice, but yes, I remember dreading long plane rides! Hope it goes well 😅 I remember realizing that I'd become that family that I never wanted sitting in front of me on a plane haha
