Why Is It Always The Same People On Trending? Is Anyone Else Sick Of The Trash?

It is not a secret the trending page isn't a real trending page, it's basically a billboard that you pay to be listed on, a classified section or whatever you want to call it. As far as I am aware, it's impossible to get onto trending without paying bidbots to boost you there. The sad reality is many people upvote their own content and rarely anyone else's.

One of the Steemians I routinely see on the trending page is @chbartist - I am sure he is a nice guy, but his incessant spamming of the trending page has been going on for months now. His content doesn't feel authentic, and if you really delve into it, he repeats himself over and over again. It's all faux-inspirational, live life and love content which isn't about anything specific half the time.

Seriously, go onto trending right now and count how many posts this guy has, I counted ten of them on the trending page, many of them published in clusters on the same day. Sorry, I said I didn't want to play the blame game, but when I see nonsense like this on the trending page for no reason other than the spot was bought, it boils my blood every single time.

I am incredibly frustrated, which could also be attributed to the fact that Bitcoin has fallen down to $3500 USD again and other cryptos similarly have fallen off a cliff again as well (at the time of writing STEEM is down 7%). When I see this absolute dumpster fire of a trending page, I question if anyone will ever take Steemit seriously.

"Yeah, yeah... another poor pleb complaining about the sorry state of Steemit", you say. We see this argument fly around constantly, I have complained before, as have others and will continue to do so before the community dies or @ned and @steemit finally do something. But lets be honest, even @ned and Steemit can see what this place has become, which is why they keep powering down the @steemit account, see for yourself.

We have SMT's to look forward too very shortly, which might help recover the price and we will finally see some proper dApps being built that can issue their own tokens and perhaps we'll see a Steemit 2.0 devoid of the negative aspects like trending page spam, brigades and a desolate wasteland of nothingness.

We have to ask ourselves only one question: what kind of place do we want Steemit to be?
