New Proposed Option for Rigged Bid Bot

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

I give you exhibit A... @edensgarden...

Sometimes they vote what you pay for, sometimes they skip your bid altogether. Sometimes they might even answer you. They screwed me for the last time. So here is a simple proposal to @yapabmatt (who I know has nothing to do with this bot but being on bottracker.com, of course no problem with him, in fact vote him for witness if you haven't already-that's a slam dunk in my book)...

Alright back to the topic, proposed rule/guideline whatever to the rigged bots that vote their buddies and ignore certain votes that aren't terribly interesting to them or may have low curation. Also when you don't post you can behind "unfortunate mechanical errors" which I have noticed most often arise when the bidding is very low, and then magically it get worked out by the next round of bidding, and the winners get some comically low payout for their vote. I know I am an idiot for letting this bot game me more than once, and I know that the exponential, overwhelming majority of the bots vote as they are supposed to, and of course there is room for mechanical/operator error. But the users of steemit need to have some kind of buffer to hold this to account and have it taken care of simply so that people don't feel scammed or pissed about this stuff, that's why an alarming percentage of people on this platform don't even use the bots and mired in very slow growth on the platform. Because there is a lack of trust and accountability for when this stuff happens to a minnow like myself and there is an underlying fear of getting flagged or something like that.

Ask that they post once a week, let the Steemit community treat them as though they are any other member of the community, so that when messed up things like this happens they can be held to account.

Flag me, whatever but I am sick and tired of this crap happening with a bot like this messing up an amazingly fun system in my opinion, and to whoever is listening pass that on to someone who is listening that is a big wheel with a bot so that they do post at least once a week so they have interaction and accountability with the community. By the way, I have had technical errors with bid bots, and have exceptional luck with them refunding or eventually voting a post at least at some point. I haven't had to complain at all, maybe about a dozen times over hundreds, maybe thousands of bids. Virtually all problems are solved with great expedience and courtesy, except for the shitbot above that I will not say its name again.

I will give you some more issues that you should discuss... 1) changed rules and 2) moving of the caps when the price of steem moves up and down.

I see this happen all the time... So on number 1, they should have to publish their new rules and honor them until another such published post comes out. They should also make the new rules effective after 24 hours, that way everyone has a chance to read and react. On number 2, I understand the need to change the rewards as the price drops, so it should a) be part of the rules so that it is clear to everyone (if a price occurs, then you get b upvote)... or b) they should have to publish ahead of time with a 24 hour notice as in step a. Would you like me to give you more ideas? :)

I see your problems with the bots and think the same as you that there are problems. But I also see how the bots can be used to gain profit and it helps to make the system more distributed. So if we follow some of the suggestions you have made above and some others from @unleashpower, then I think we can find a way to make this place more stable and dynamic. At least that is my thinking... In other words, don't always focus on the negative as their are some really good things that can be done on the positive with this!

Ah yes, very good point ilovepoorpeople, maybe I posted this in the heat of getting robbed by this bot didn't look at the bigger picture, well said. I tend to do that sometimes, luckily I operate in a community and not on an island so cooler and wiser heads can have the chance to prevail over anger in the moment. Thank you very much for the comment!

lol... its ok if you get upset, I was just letting you know to look at both sides of it so that you keep yourself happy. But some people just like to bitch, so its perfectly fine with me if you prefer that ;)

The bots are getting more busy lately, maybe we are getting a wave of new people in! That would be cool if so :)

I understand exactly what you mean... I have had that conversation with many people and you would think the bot owners would figure it out... It is simple customer service and if they don't do it, then why wouldn't the customers think they have been ripped off? I once get a refund from one of them that was from like 2 months prior... I was happy to get the refund, but you would think they would say "we're sorry that it took us so long to acknowledge we took your money".... Some bots are good, so I think this is a good thing for you to do to bring some sunshine on the subject!
