Perhaps these two insiders know something we don't?

Unfortunately from the data on the blockchain it is looking like a rush for the exits. There must be a reason for the biggest founders powering down so I'll have to be powering down and going on Bittrex along with them due to the game theory dynamics. Who wants to be the one stuck here holding the bag if millions of Steem is just sitting on Bittrex for unknown reasons?

Sort:

why is this happening?

because they are idiots.

Even if you disagree with them I think "idiots" is the wrong word to apply to them.

no i think its spot on really and im sure that deep down they know it themselves.

@val-a (one of the devs) also powered down all his SP (~1.5M). They must have some insider infirmations.

is this a surprise ? look at the state of bitshares and EOS!!! I am waiting for 10 cent or even lower!!! but the biggest will be if the block chain will be split and a new coin emerges, then steem will be worthless

Read through all the comments up to now and agree with those who think @dan and @ned are cashing in rather than holding. If there is a big drop in steem price hopefully more will participate on the platform. Staying positive.

Why not? It's not as though they give a damn about the rest of us.

I'm grateful for the platform they built, but I stopped caring about them a l-o-n-g time back, because they've made it crystal clear that Steemit users are their last priority.

As for insider information, if indeed they have any, I don't care about that either.

Dan seems to be an intelligent, standup guy; Ned, less so on both fronts, but thus far I've watched them both make bonehead moves, based upon their own stated goals.

I'm still investing small amounts for the moment, my own sources (who are far more knowledgeable about markets in general than the vast majority of us) are still quite bullish on crypto, for excellent reasons that are readily accessible to anyone who bothers doing any research.

I seriously doubt that all the front ends and dapps are going anywhere any time soon, and with usability improving steadily, people are joining the platform just for the dapps.

I'm in it for the long haul, as I've said before, for the communities and friends that I've found here.

The downturn in STEEM is shaking out those not serious about being here, and quite frankly, I'm not sorry to see them go. A high percentage of those staying actually produce quality content, which was, after all, one of the original goals for this platform.

Who knows it may already be 'priced in'. Seem blockchain has some great things going for it but when you analyze it Ned or Steemit INC did not do Steem any favors. Most of the progress was made when Dan was around. EOS seems to be moving in right direction IMO. Looks like some Steem devs left for EOS b/c it pays more, bigger adoption. Steem basically is same it was in early 2017. Little progress has been made.... IMO.

How do you manage to follow their steps. Luckily some steemian are these careful too.

It's all on the blockchain for anyone to analyze. I predict Steem will go to around 10 cents or less.

Scary to see Dan is dumping also, as people might really following the powering down trend, 10 cent Steem is a not a dream that far away.

Sorry to hijack your post but I remember reading a few posts of yours about Tauchain and thought you might be able to help me. I receieved notification recently from Bittrex telling me that they are stopping supporting Agoras tokens and I need to transfer mine off the exchange by the end of the month or I will lose them. Can you recommend a wallet I can move them too? I only have 72 and Bittrex are going to charge me 5 for withdrawing them but I've liked the sound of the project since I first heard of it (from your blog I think) and hope they might be worth something someday in the not too distant future.

It's either that or sell them to buy Steem to buy SteemMonsters cards ;-)

There is Omniwallet. You might want to try moving your AGRS tokens to an Omniwallet account.

Dan has practice dumping on projects which are competitors. EOS lead the jan 2018 crash dumping EOS ICO funds.

Ned and steemit powering down might be a reaction to dan. Or like you said a reaction to something they know from the inside.

Steem might really sink if it goes to 10cents.

However long term maybe it's good for steem, help it get a better distribution

I kind of agree with you. In the end, independents developers and projects havebrought value to the STEEM Blockchain... Neither Ned nor Dan did after the Blockchain launch.

Could the Blockchain still move on without these 2? Will Witnesses be enough to maintain it?

Steem needs SMT to survive. It is an absolute must because it's how communities and Dapps can differentiate. Who on Steem is willing to pay for the development of SMTs?

Steem needs SMTs to grow, but not to survive. Steem could exisit as a cooperative platform, it doesn't need to be the wild west like it is right now.

To grow is to survive in economics and in life.

That is general economic theory which is also destroying the earth btw. Something that is sustained but not growing is also beautiful and a valid thing.

Posted using Partiko Android

The earth itself must grow to survive. Life as a whole has to grow to survive even of off the earth.

The universe is growing every day so if life doesn't grow it just has less time to experience beauty.

dana i love you, but that is just nonsense in context

What has steem inc actually done in the last year? As far as I can tell steem doesn't need either of them. Ned has been gone for ever.

When Steem HFs happen, who implements it or decide what is going to be the new Steem Ecosystem ? This is my dear, that Steem cannot go in without a leader (even if really bad).

Well witnesses and developers paid for by utopian-io and other groups are the ones pushing most of the updates. Witnesses decide whether a fork goes through, not steem inc.

Thank you for reminding me that.
Then we need more groups such as utopian-io
They il come from the different dApps
