Human nature?

I don't think so. I think it's culture. There is a huge "stakeholders can do anything they like with their stake" culture here.

Societies have constrained the negative elements of human nature successfully when good ideas are part of the culture, eg. rule of law, individual rights, property rights - along with sufficient enforcement so that it is not undermined by a few. Enforcement does not have to be violent.

Downvotes are part of our enforcement not violent at all yet, effective in many cases. Even to the point where people change their behavior...

Yes I agree. I hope that the changes to downvotes do lead to positive results eventually, but I think that is largely psychological, stakeholders could easily have enforced in the past and they didn't, the largest still are not.

Well, it's about time someone finally said it! Steem in on a train heading for derailment if the bleeding doesn't stop...

Mad props to your Paint skills :)

I think the constant talk about investors is distracting.
First, they are speculators. Nothing wrong with a little gambling.
Second, a great product needs to come first. Investors will follow automatically. Focusing on monetization too early has killed many companies/products before they even had a chance.

Is this an #oldsteem or #newsteem diagram?

The only difference is the mentality of stakeholders. Both are possible in both paradigms.

I'm hopeful that things have improved of late.

I can see some evidence of improvements but they have yet to materialize in the bottom-line.

There is no difference between old Steem and new Steem. Underneath, it's still just Steem.

Cryptocurrencies are speculation... now we have a question, how much we will invest? There will be space for regular users when cryptocurrencies will be more often use in everyday life.
