Do you analyze your Steem data on income, growth, curation rewards, payouts, etc?

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the 63rd weekly installment of my series on Steem income and growth!

Income on the Steem blockchain is generated by "investment" (the more currency you have, the more you earn) and by "work" (earning currency by contributing content that adds value). All my crypto holdings are in the Steem currency. Now I'm working to earn more, by uploading unique valuable content to the blockchain.

Calculating weekly income

Considering income from accounts that I own, that my wife owns, and group projects using our funds (currently @drutter, @medikatie, @greatesteem, @hempy, @girlsofgreen, @sativazeee, & @vantocan), here's the running tally:

Average weekly growth (last 10 weeks): +16.8 Steem (+1.06%)

It was an off week, due to less time available for content-creation. Also, we 'spent' some Steem again this week via donating to the Mission: Agua-Possible project, which is nearing 10% completion.

The 10-week average remains above 1% growth. For me, in the 63 weeks I've been analyzing data, the 1% growth level seems to be a benchmark. Growth goes below 1% in slow times, above 1% in good times, and up to 3% or higher during peak times.

If all our Steem was in a single account, it would currently be the 5289th richest. Last time I checked, it was about 5300, so we aren't gaining ground very quickly against the rest of the pack. It may be a while before we're even in the top 5000.

Our team reputations are now 60, 54, 52, 47, 47, 46, 46. An upvote from the team, which often votes together to ensure reaching the minimum for payout, is currently worth about 0.05 USD (0.12 Steem). We dispense about 8 or 9 such upvotes (about 1.0 Steem in total) per day - about half within the team and half to the greater community.

I'm currently getting about 6% of my income via curation rewards. The other 94% or so comes from payouts on content (posts and comments). It seems to me that curation becomes a bigger factor for richer accounts, but for poor accounts almost doesn't have any effect.

Does anyone else keep track of and/or analyze any of their Steem data? It's really easy, and quite useful for gaining insights, in my opinion. It would be interesting to compare notes. I'm sure AI will soon be doing plenty of analysis of the blockchain, but I'm not sure it will share the results with me, and I'd like to know the information now, while I can do something with it.

I am trying to grow my steem income for over a year now. Slow progress though.

There is a snowballing effect about it.

Yes if you power up and keep posting regularly.

No because you do it for me, hehe! Upvoted :)

Good point! Somebody's got to do the numbers and crunching thing.... ;)
It's good to know things are working out, at least partially, for some people. Maybe the crypto bull market will bring happiness for many that have been working hard for months/years? :)

Good luck to the @GirlsofGreen and friends.
I'll catch you around! Finished on here now.
Future comments, resteems and ratings will be done by them.
Steem on:)) stay green.

I feel like if I analyzed it, I might be tempted to adjust my behavior. I don't really want profit to be my main driver. Ignorance is bliss.

Analyzing growth doesn't mean it has to be your main focus, or even a focus at all. We're all on Steem because of the Steem, and if we pretend otherwise we're lying. But if profit was my main driver, I'd be doing things a lot differently! Voting for my own posts, for example. Using bitbots, for example. Selling my vote, for example.
It almost seems as though you're saying you prefer to remain ignorant of the numbers, lest they corrupt you?

Pretty much, though I don't disagree with your sentiment. I have lots of other activities beyond STEEM in this space where I overanalyze everything. I prefer this to be a place where I just don't care and just share and participate. That's probably not for everyone. If I make it to Orca and STEEM explodes to $10, maybe my mindset will change. For now I just don't have the bandwidth.

Oh, makes more sense to me now. I have certain things I section off from the rest of life, and treat differently. For example, my activism is mostly stressful, hard, gritty, and boring. For a change, I started @GirlsofGreen, a modeling team for Canadian cannabis-loving women. We keep it fun, light, and positive. Anything negative is removed asap, including problematic team members. We just don't do nonsense or drama. It works out! And yeah, when people ask me about it, I have to explain that I consider it a separate project, and I treat it and think about it differently.
For you, Steem is a side thing. For me, it's my entire crypto savings, and where I post most of my content now that I've been deplatformed from mainstream social media. Steem on :)
