Income on the Steem blockchain is generated by "investment" (the more currency you have, the more you earn) and by "work" (earning currency by contributing content that adds value). All my crypto holdings are in the Steem currency. Now I'm working to earn more, by uploading unique valuable content to the blockchain.

My wife and I continue to deal with health issues and life changes, so our ability to pump out content has dropped, and that is reflected in the tally this week. It's a reminder that you only get paid here if you continue to grind. Take a break, and your income drops to zero. Better not get bored of all the password entering and aimless clicking! Better not get sick! Better not have a hardware crash or internet connection problem! Better not lose your creative spark and your motivation! Better not take any time off! Ugh. Kind of depressing.
So yeah, don't ever get sick, or your income will disappear! And then you'll be poor, and stressed out.... so no pressure! Keep those clicks coming, don't let your voting mana sit at 100%, and keep up your efficiency! Stay healthy and on top of your game, and never stop producing brand new, unique, high-quality content - or you're DONE!
My wife has been posting her cannamodeling pictures and videos here for well over a year. She puts in time specifically for Steem, and spends at least 2 hours every day creating and managing content, 365 days a year. She models, she edits, she writes, she researches, she writes thoughtful and useful comments, she has written dozens of detailed scientific analyses of cannabis use for medical purposes. I bought and powered up $5000 worth of Steem, so I could be her biggest fan, and have been upvoting ALL her content (including comments) since she started. For that initial investment, plus at least 1000 hours of modeling, research, and writing, she has finally just reached the milestone of 100.0 Steem, currently worth 33 USD. Not that she's only doing it for the money, but those numbers speak for themselves. EVERYBODY'S time is worth more than that. If our message was getting out there and we were being seen, maybe this would be worth it, but that's not the case. We're posting to the same 3 or 4 upvoters each time. It's almost pointless. Gorgeous cannamodels toking the best weed in the world, photos and videos made and uploaded fresh every day to the blockchain, and NOBODY can spare a vote? It can be hard to reach the 2 cent cutoff, sometimes. Really pathetic. It's tough to keep models interested, if they aren't making any money, and aren't even being seen! At least if we could get them some exposure here, they'd work for free, but there isn't even that. There simply is no audience for real content here on the Steem blockchain.
The Steem experience is getting further and further away from being "My Purpose". I'm still good at it, but I'm not loving it as much lately. The world may need it, but it's not possible to earn a living doing it, at least not right now.
Steem is down to #62 on the list of cryptos, and falling. It was top 10 when I got here 2 years ago. But there's hope for the future, so those of us still here continue to Steem on!

Sad but true.
I've also noticed a lot of glitches on Steemit lately. For example, I'll click on a post or a member name, but nothing happens until I click a second time. I first thought my mouse was dying or I wasn't clicking properly, but it turns out that sometimes clicks just lead to nothing happening. It wasn't like that a couple weeks ago.
Another glitch is when I'm clicking on the upvote button on a comment, from the comments tab. Instead of giving the comment and upvote, it does nothing except return me to the top of the page. To upvote comments, I now must go into each comment separately, and use the upvote button there. Slows down my use of the site even more, which was already slowed down a lot by the "wallet split" last month. Now I'm entering my password 10 to 20 times a day instead of 2 or 3. Security upgrade? More like downgrade.

It's not about the steem price for me. The site itself is just not working that well anymore, and there's really nobody engaging or enjoying the content. Something has gone wrong around here unfortunately :(

I’m feeling the same dude. I haven’t been nearly as active on here as I used to be, and now just everything drops to nothing. I have (sadly) stopped posting big, detailed and meaningful posts as I didn’t find anyone reads them or engages. I’ve been here for almost 1.5 years now, and I should/will get back into it properly. But I find just posting one picture with a title and no context or content gets more upvotes than if I try to engage my followers with my posts, so I guess I’ll be sticking to what works!
