Hang In There, It's A Long Road Ahead!
This bearish market is anything but confidence inspiring. The past few months have been difficult and yesterday Ned announced that Inc is laying off 70% of its employees. There are many reasons for this including the low price of the token which as we know isn't helping anyone.
Steem price has tanked a lot in the past few weeks with Bitcoin pulling everything down and we're borderline #50 on Coinmarketcap. However, today as I write this post Steem price seems quite unaffected by the news of the lay offs and continues to swing with the positive movements of Bitcoin. Will it be this way when the market moves out of it's bearish phase. Only time will tell.
Honestly, it's hard to say definitively where we will go from here. Many delays are expected on the timelines of key projects such as SMTs given the lay offs. However one thing is certain at this point-that our Steem blockchain is still alive and kicking and many amazing people are still building on it.
Things will eventually get better from here even though we're not close to what we could have accomplished in the past 2.5 years. However, I hope the lessons learnt through these times will ensure that Inc and everyone else involved is better prepared for the days ahead. Atleast that is my hope and expectation for the future.
I've been committed to this project from my earliest days here but I feel now more than ever we need to stick together and keep working on improving things around here to make headway in this space and come out on top again. After all we were a top 3 cryptocurrency project in 2016 but getting back anywhere near won't be easy at all.
As a witness to the Steem blockchain I intend on keeping my nodes functioning moving forward. But I reckon many witnesses are in the negative with these prices. One can only hope that the market doesn't drop any lower further impacting everyone involved. Several projects in this space have suffered in the past few months and many will die before we get into the next bull run. Steem for many of us has been a huge part of our professional and personal lives and we need to do all that we can to keep the fire burning.

Lots of us have been for quite sometime and hold on even on those tough times. The current lows is nothing before and if we stayed during that time, we can still do it again now and in the future.

So many seem to have been caught up in that idea that SMT where going be our savor. A more cost effective blockchain down the road and I can only hope a lower cost to running witness . I hate to think what your guys ram requires would be years from now at the current state of things.
It will be interesting to see what cryptocurrencies manage to adapt to do more with less and what ones will hit the bottom of the ocean and never rise again.
I keep telling people to keep in communities to keep posting they may never get such a chance like we are right now. So many seem so dragged down by the price yet if you are holding it really does not matter right now. With how fast markets move this could be just a small dip on the long term chart. Where people tell stories how easy it was to earn a single Steem and how cheap it was to get.

I'm not too worried with the SMT delay anymore because first we need to increase the community again and clarify to everyone all the solid opportunities here. Once that happens, SMT will be a natural... STEEM ON
Keep those nodes running. I hope the witnesses help get us back towards the potential of what steemit should be.
The thing which we can wait for is the time when everything gets well as the time for SMT is approaching i am very actively gathering as much tokens as i can.
@firepower i have one question that as you have around 110000+ steem power so how much have you invested from your pocket and what is the amount which you have generated on this platform i just want to know because i find it very difficult getting attention and the desirable upvotes from the community.

A significant portion of it has been bought but I have also earned a good amount of my stake over the past 2.5 years participating on the platform as an early adopter. I'm holding more on different exchanges for trading as well.
That is really great to hear i will also try to interact more and more in order to build a connection with the community.

Couldn’t agree with you more when you said that “one thing is certain at this point-that our Steem blockchain is still alive and kicking and many amazing people are still building on it.” steemfest3 was the perfect example of this!
Such a fantastic community and as a relatively new Steemian, I was blown away by the potential demonstrated by the devs I met.
Let’s hope the bearish market doesn’t negatively impact these projects or longer too long to drive people away from Steemit altogether.
