Congrats To The Latest Whale To Delegate To a Bid BotsteemCreated with Sketch.

December 2017 was a good time. Upvotes and reward frenzy were everywhere. Even a 500 SP account could dish out good amount of cents. It is because of that scenario that made it a StunFest whenever we come across an account that was giving an upvote worth of $300+.

It was mad. Those days.

It happened to one of my Nigerian mentors. That was how I got to know.

I followed his - the good whale - activities over time and he was the kind of dude I thought about whenever the issue of curation rewards were brought up.

He had sacrificed. A lot.

He once followed Curie's vote a while back. Then he stopped.

The next time I checked on him, he was religiously curating DTube contents. Then he stopped. I hear those folks got issues or I don't know DTube is pretty boring anyways.

He must have tried other sources of ROI in between and I wasn't aware because ..eh.. he's not my dad?

Anyway, I did check on him few minutes ago though after seeing his latest vote value on Ned's latest puppy tears update.

A freaking $0.32 at 100%.

Off I went and boom my worst fears got confirmed. He's caved and now @booster has more shitpower to send shits all the way to trending, accelerate the stomping of this holy grail and live off whatever is left of it.

To be clear. I don't blame the Former Good Samaritan nor Booster. Nah. Instead I praise them for looking out for themselves and making sure that in case of any capsize they will make enough ROI - perhaps even double their original investment - between now and when this Titanic hits the inevitable iceberg that can only be avoided if Steem Inc, witnesses and virtually every other person that gives a fuck about this place comes together and admits that this current reward mechanism is a total failure, support the 50:50 author:curator ratio and prevent the remaining good Good Samaritans from breaking bad and making these our so called "authors" realize how foolish they are not to realize that the only author reward out there is 0%.

Just because we're lucky enough to have folks voting us should not in any way blind us to this fact.

Curation is hard work... Just curated this post I am pooped now. I also read it :) I am not sure I would delegate to a third party money machine so they can build an account especially not a bot though. Then again I transfer money to @tipu but that seems like something I can use. I like things I can use.

Just realised I am poor for a reason

Curation is hard work

Apparently some geniuses believe it's easy.

I am not sure I would delegate to a third party money machine so they can build an account especially not a bot though

Really? I hear they offer sexy ROI right after they've devalued the price of the very token they're returning.

Then again I transfer money to @tipu but that seems like something I can use. I like things I can use.

I saw the vote. It felt good!

Doesn't matter. Jesus is proud of you

I personally think straight curation percentages are too simplistic. I think it should be an algorithm based on the rewards you receive, to encourage people to find good posts by users not often rewarded well. This would discourage the current tendency for some to just upvote people that always get upvotes. They would get a lower curation on posts that are made by people that always get $100 upvotes...so why add fuel to the fire? Even though it's guaranteed rewards. It would be a bit more of a gamble, but they might actually make more curation rewards following a curation trail or similar.

It's a start. An n^1.3 reward curve was proposed alongside the 50:50 reward ratio. Left for the community to actually give an ear to those who've been warning us about this flaw and have long predicted the lack of leadership and direction at Steem Inc.

Yeah, it would be better for curators. Curation rewards currently are rather pathetic. But I think it would make the slight problem of people voting for those that get almost guaranteed rewards worse. If, however, they got the same rewards, or perhaps even slightly lower ones, for such upvotes, they would not be encouraged, and would in fact be discouraged.

So I agree that the reward system needs to be changed...but I don't agree with the proposed change that is so often given, of 50/50. 50/50 might be good for the upper level. Perhaps even as high as 60%, for those with the lowest of rewards.

Curation of actually good content is rather difficult...they should get a higher reward for that hard work.

He has been doing bid bot stuff for a long time. He was the money man behind the Isteemd bid bot. I guess something happened and was not profitable so he went to delegating to a established bot. I think he has been delegating gor the last 6 months or so. It is pretty sad.

Reason why I said

He must have tried other sources of ROI in between and I wasn't aware because ..eh.. he's not my dad?

I just happened to aware of those days he followed Curie and upvoted good stuffs on his own. DTube too. He also did stay a looooong time without delegating to any bot. Even DJ, thinking that he was looking for good communities to support, tried to get him to delegate to COM. It's really sad.

Whales are really none of my concern. I was just saying he has been doing it for some time now. It does not bother me. I just want penny steem so I can become a whale also. Until then I will just look on from the back alleys of steemit.

Yes!! Support the crash, then buy in. Let's do this thing.

Thanks. It's easy to get carried away when you're in an upvote bubble. I've seen too many people with real talent quit out of frustration. That's why I said the real author reward is 0%.

Very well written, Branches. Good morning!

Yeah you too buddy
