What price is right for hitting the sell button on Steem?

in #steem5 years ago

The answer is no price of course - unless its part of a strategy to get more, seriously though the easiest gaurentee is to just power up!

...But seriously at some point we are going to need to sell some Steem, if for no other reason but to let some other people have some....naughhh, no need to share your steem, be alittle selfish and keep it and power up!!

Still... just for fun I'm trying to work out what is my price? everyone has a price yeah? hmmn lets say I sell some Steem in say  2 years time.

I expect by then SMT will be out, 1000's of companies and communities are using their tokens to good effect, so many games and Dapps - which to spend the most time on? and we are pushing $27 per Steem; would this be good enough?

I reckon I'll be rocking 10,000+ of Steem from all that grinding just in Drugwars..Shkkk to think the upgrades I must be hitting like...level 69 buildings.

Ok at $27 a Steem, I think you got me this would be a trigger point sell some...lets say about 50% at this point...and call it time for early retirement...but still what to do with the remaining 50%?..hmmnn.

I reckon I'll wait for  a few months for it to hit $37 per Steem at which point I'll probably stop powering up and just sell off the liquid Steem from upvotes.

It's always good to dream - but remember, through our dreams comes tomorrows reality.

Steem-on guys! and may all your hard work pay off and dreams come true - For all our sakes, sometime soon :)

Sort:

One billion dollars!

I think being pragmatic, not powering down, and subsisting on liquid steem in future may be possible, but I also think it is really important to accumulate as mu cgt as possible now when it isn't at that price.

The dream is not having to sell, but using it to exchange for products and services.

Let's hope!

I'd photograph things for Steem. That's a service!

That's right, through the @homesteaderscoop of course!

Very good pick up; I was just thinking that reading the post from @minismallholding on trading for goods and homesteading :)

Now we're talking. A few people here will accept Steem or SBD as payment for goods, hopefully that grows, of course you still have to find someone that's willing to part with their Steem to obtain your goods or services

I like to your timing. IMHO, now is the time to set a sales price for the next bull run (ideally, also write down the reasoning). And once we reach it then that would be a good time to define the buy price following the correction.

It's always good to have a long term strategy/plan - I like your way of thinking

For interest I will note how I'm feeling now with my plan...and note how I feel when I buy/sell along the way. I've learned allot of people buy/sell on nothing more then emotions (I must admitt I fall into this trap) getting awareness of those and how you go during your buy/sell is key to making future smart choices I reckon (so far I haven't had the best luck - normally I just get too excited and buy anytime I have a few spare $)...Which isn't the worse thing for the moment as the price is cheap :)

Its important to take some wins when things are pumping. Not fiat though. Never fiat. Fine art, baseball cards, faberge eggs.
Good old fashioned precious metals. If you want to lock in those gains, buy something stable.

Makes sense to me - I hope someone does a post on all the available options soon. Be great if we just had one community market to visit type thing :)

I’m bad at this trading malarkey, I just cash out some if I need it bugger the price 🤣 I’ve only cashed out all of twice so far though and one was a test 🤣

My life would be so much easier if everywhere accepted steem 😆

I'm with you...part of my strategy moving forward will to be thinking about what things I can just exchange for Steem or other crypto and bugger going back into Fiat. Make this part of a larger strategy. One thing I don't mind doing is taking some of the post payouts and leaving it in bitcoin...kindda like hedging the bet.

Hahaha the problem with this strategy is when Steem is cheap, I swap the bitcoin for more and just end up with nothing but Steem - I guess just gathering more and more Steem isn't a bad overall strategy, but nice to think longer term...hmmn :)

If it’s any consolation I only have steem. Everything else is too hard 🤣

(Well currently I also have amps as it’s the same level of hard as steem but haven’t tried playing around with moving it and not sure how functional the amps are currently)

Yeah outside of Steem and bitcoin, I struggle trying to win bits and pieces on markets ups and downs too hard for me :(

Hmmm. I'm not sure selling 5000 steem @ $27 would be a sound retirement plan. That's only $135K

It depends how much you need.

For me that's allot of money and just enough for a simple life moving forward, but rapid chance to retire. Remember with the other half of my Steem I would still be making a passive income - if its some what based on posting in 2 years, being retired means more time for quality posts :)

True, but I looked at the numbers purely on what is currently still owed on my mortgage and $135K wouldn't pay it off in full, therefore I couldn't retire on such an amount.

Fair enough - Sounds like you need an aggressive Strategy to get more then 10,000 Steem. Seriously though mate paying off the mortgage is a top priority; I managed it through hard work and saving hard and now when I go to work I don't feel like they own me (as much)..it was certainly a key thing in opening my mind to other issues our world has - when your at work paying the mortgage the system has you too thumbed to notice most things.

Apparently the system wants me to upgrade my house and get another mortgage - I say screw that, I have a roof over my head; I don't need a triple garage, yet they make me feel like i want one.

  • lots of Steemit contests and drugwar playing helps build steem rapidly :)

Yeah, I'm slowly building up my Steem reserves (and chipping away at that mortgage as well).

Drug Wars sounds interesting, but I haven't had a chance to have a look at it as yet.

Good stuff and good luck mate...it is anything but easy.

drugwars Is worth a look in, I'm hoping it doesn't end up a 'pay to win' game. Right now early players have advantage, but hopefully they balance game play right - you know from IBT I like everyone to have an equal chance to win...its worth a look :)
