Global Blockchain Technologies To Pump $20 Million Steem Into Steemit Inc. When Would We Have An Aliko Dangote Type Of Steem Investor From Nigeria?

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Global Blockchain Technologies Corp., an asset management company, has announced partnership with Steemit Inc. to establish a $20million steem fund. It was quite exciting to read the full article yesterday on twitter and this was my response below.$20 billion planned investment in SMTs.PNG

According to source, the $20 million fund is meant to assist start up companies develop applications which will be based on steem's smart media tokens (SMT's). The CEO of Global Blockchain Technology Corp., Rick Willard said

We're proud to be the first publically traded company to make a significant investment in the Steem ecosystem. No current open source and public blockchain protocol is more mature, scalable, and as rapid as Steem.

Nigerians Can Use the Unique Selling Points Of The Steemit Protocol For Steem Promo

The Steemit protocol has competitive advantage and unique selling points (USPs) of

  • Scalability
  • Three (3) seconds transaction time

This has got me thinking very deeply. I ask fellow Nigerians and myself this question

When would we have an Aliko Dangote type of Steem investor From Nigeria?

As at March, 2017, Aliko Dangote from Kano State, North-West of Nigeria, was reported on Forbes to be 105th on the World billionaire list. He is still the richest man on the Africa continent.

Sort:

Thus is great news and more reason to buy more steem power.

To have people like Aliko Dangote on steemit, we will all need to reach out to them

Most of us spend our time upvoting
and making comments, just few are reaching out to others, simply because there is no referral bonus.

Reaching out through public campaigns and seminars is they and like you said, we have selling point.

Yes, as the old investment saying goes

buy the rumor, sell the news.

This is the time to accumulate more SP and not to sell. Reaching out to investors is really what will make a big difference in the steem ecosystem, not excluding our growth. What we spend time doing here upvotng, vote begging will not help the #Nigeria community much.

Reaching out through public campaigns and seminars

Some of us are already doing this, but focusing only on Southern Nigeria is not helping much. The Northern Nigeria is there too, a vast land yet to be explored. Trust me, Notherners are the people with the money. I saw a Nigerian, @donfelix, from Kaduna, who joined steemit a few days ago. I believe that it is his likes who are originally from the North, who would be able to help spread the steemit gospel in the North. I really appreciate your contribution. Steem on!

I'll be starting a steemit publicity campaign on Twitter soon

Steem is inflationary currency. It's hard to drag serious investors into it @maryfavour. It will be useful as a payment system, but I doubt it will ever be used as a store of value.

@lighteye, I agree with you that steem is an inflationary currency. Certainly, it would not be easy to bring in serious investors, but not impossible. I am looking at such investors from Nigeria leaving their funds on the steem blockchain and curation rewards plus price increase of steem, being the reward for the investor.

It will be useful as a payment system

Beautiful! So we can market steem to big time investors as a very good payment system. Not steem, though, but SBD. Thanks for the useful insight.

You are welcome, @maryfavour :)

The Steem technology is getting bigger by the day and with the right push, a Nigerian investor will happen here for good.

...with the right push, a Nigerian investor will happen here for good.

I hope that we give that right push sooner than later. Thanks for your contribution, @ejemai.

How much would be the steem price if that plan get executed?

@cloudspyder, I have no idea. The price of steem and other cryptocurrencies depend on so many factors or market forces. What I know is that steem is undervalued at the current price and has great potentials. I've seen the price go up to about $3 before the start of summer.

Very encouraging and inspiring. It's never too late to start.

This is great for the Steemit community. With time Nigerian elites will come on board with more adoption of Steemit.

@blessesman939, we Nigerians need to do the job of marketing steem to them, in the first place. Nigerian elites won't just come on board, if they don't understand what we do on the steem blockchain.

I totally agree with you ma. Thank you for your

I'm yet to see a big investment from any Nigerian investor in cryptocurrency. I am very open and glad to be proved wrong.

I'm yet to see a big investment from any Nigerian investor in cryptocurrence

I think this is happening because of the government's attitude towards cryptocurrencies. Secondly, these business owners have not seen real use cases /application of the blockchain.
Some businesses, especially the big ones owned by Nigerians, have virtual shops. We could tell them to make steemit one of their blogs and not just the regular wordpress blog that we know about.

We need to take the campaign/proposals to them. It is not going to a walk in the park as most resist change. But I am hopeful if presented the right way that they would see the reason to invest. I know we have smart people as CEOs of these companies. The thing is, you are right, they have not seen the real-life use case or application of blockchain to their various business. The fact that bitcoin or cryptocurrency is still viewed as Ponzi or something bad In Nigeria is not helping. I know when if you buy bitcoin, the person you are buying it from would tell you not to put bitcoin in description while making a payment due to fear he may be targeted by the regulatory agency. I think when we have wholeheartedly embraced bitcoin as a legit form of payment like Finland, Canada, Estonia, UK, Australia, etc. then the job of making them invest in it becomes easier.

The truth is Nigerian investors and politicians are publicly trying to feign blind eye to cryptocurrency; perharps in secret they do invest on crypto. Alot of work has to be done to lecture/convince them to invest on steem. Hopefully we will get there.

...perharps in secret they do invest on crypto.

I like this phrase. Maybe not all of them, but my intuition tells me that some of them are investors in certain cryptocurrencies.

A lot of work has to be done to lecture/convince them to invest on steem.

Certainly, this is the way to go. The question now is who would take the lead. It wouldn't have been too difficult for me to do, if I were at home. Like you've rightly stated, hopefully, we'll get there. Cheers.

This is a great beginning to a great journey :D

Absolutely, it is!
