writing, steem and possabilities

Something occurred to me while I was working on a short story.

Back when I was an active poster on a writing board I wrote a post about wanting to make a living writing shorter works such as short stories, poems, flash fiction ect.

I received mostly discouraging responses. Mostly telling me how I would have to be a major name in writing otherwise I would never make it. They said I could try to post a ton of short stories on Amazon or perhaps find enough people to donate to a monthly patron type setup but that to is a long shot and could fall apart quickly.

While I don’t disagree with their logic, I wasn’t ready to accept such doubt and negativity. I still wanted to believe there was a better way (or a combination of ways) that I could make living as a writer of short works.

That was a good deal of time ago an honestly something I forgot about until I re-joined Steem. Not that I believe I can earn a living posting my writing on here, at least not for a long time and with great effort. Perhaps in time (years) I could earn enough to at least allow me to work at a job I love for lower pay as opposed to a higher paying job that sucks out my soul on daily basis.

But the potential… the potential Steem provides is inspiring. I’m no developer but I am a believer in fantastic possibilities of the developers and minds and ideas and dreams the fuel this site.

imagine - investing our time (the rarest commodity) to build a better world for more people instead of yet another mc-mansion for someone who could care less about if we lived or died.
