“Let’s See What’s Out There”

Ok, so with the release of PALnet we enter into a new frontier in the Steemiverse.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this works out (and how it works). Steem itself is a little chaotic for niche communities... but with this, all of a sudden we have the capabilities of creating a space for such [social media] communities to thrive and build within the parameters of their niche.

For example, those of us who are part of the @naturalmedicine community love to read, write, share, and chat about herbs, natural healing, homesteading, meditation, and holistic wellbeing.

But for those who come across us from outside the wider Steem community, it can be daunting.

And anyone can produce crappy, Wikipedia-regurgitated content, slap a #naturalmedicine tag on it, and attract upvotes from undiscerning whales and votebots.

But with this, it looks like there is the capacity to keep the feed contained within a tag and ensure the community’s stake is used to regulate and curate quality content, and ensure it is rewarded accordingly.

Steemiversary

In other news, it seems the release of PALnet coincides with anniversary of my Steem account. I originally joined Steem about 9 months prior, but decided to open a new account after several months hiatus from the online world.

PAL was the first Discord community I joined in those early days, so on my return it was a way of getting back into the swing of things. Being part of #teamaustralia helped me connect with other Aussie Steemians and give me support and encouragement for my content. I still haven’t made it to any of the Aussie meet-ups (what’s going on Melbournians?), but maybe we can have a strong presence at this year’s Steemfest which is happening just down the road in Thailand 😉.

Well, looking forward to seeing more of these shenanigans!!

Here is to Steem!!!! 🎉🍻

Totally.

All of a sudden the dreaming and imaginings some of us had in the NM community start to appear to be achievable...

Now we just need to find some knowledgeable devs and techies who can help us turn this into a reality.... [hint hint]

You’ve been visited by @riverflows on behalf of Natural Medicine!

Anyone can slap a #naturalmedicine tag on something but it definitely wont be voted by us unless it's good. Losing count of hte posts that say 'The Health Benefits of 'x' - insert any old thing - but not say much that's not regurgitated content. It would be amazing for us to have a front end like PAL and they've done a great job. Any one reading this and thinking they could help? Do get in touch!! And yes, wouldn't mind a Steem Melbourne meet up! Are you thinking of going to Thailand?

Did you know that @ecotrain and @naturalmedicine are colloborating on an awesome challenge where you can win 50 Steem? Check it out here.
If you are interested in natural healing from herbalism to alt diets to mindfulness, and everything else in between, you might like to join Natural Medicine on Discord or consider delegating a little to support healing wisdoms on the Steem blockchain.

I think the point of the metrics being used within PALnet are such that emphasis is on quality curation, so shitposts won’t get as much upvote (hence, share of the reward pool)... at least that’s my understanding. It still is going to rely on human nature to a certain degree.
