Steemit is the primary Social Media platform that works with 3 different forms of Tokens (STEEM, SBD & Steem Power), Steemit being more like the Blogging platform of the large variety of Steem Blochaine based Platforms -more on them later-. Steemit offers a platform where bloggers and writers can excercise their skills with community that Upvote/Reward the different types of content created by authors. Why it works is that there are rewards for people curating content as well as for the author.

DTube – The YouTube of the STEEM Blockchaine based platforms, sharing your videos and being rewarded is much easier. Someday soon it will be competing with YouTube as the current creators are being limited and even the de-monitization of channels has been the much talked about issues regarding YouTube. DTube offers the same reward as Steemit as it runs on the exact same Blockchaine.
DLive – Like DTube but offers a live streaming service to the STEEM based platforms and works with the same reward system as all of the other Platforms/Apps created on the STEEM Blockchaine.
SteepShot – This is the Instagram of the apps available, the app is available for both iOS and Android. Although still in the early stages of development it is a great way to ear with meme’s, selfies and other photographic images you wish to share with the community.

dMania – Similar to SteepShot it is mainly used by meme creators and is suited for sharing all types of image content.
DSound – the SoundCloud of related apps making it a lot easier for musicians, vocal and sound engineers to create a possible fan base and earn some reward for the effort put into creating the content.
Busy – this can be seen as an alternate to Steemit and has more user friendly interface to make it easy for the less-tech savvy to earn money for created content.
eSTEEM – This in my opinion is the Facebook version of STEEM based Platforms that has the look, feel and similar interface to that of Facebook where you can too earn for created content or posts.
ZAPPL – if you love twitter then ZAPPL is exactly that, but the same applies for rewards.
Utopian – something for the open-source developers, so for the first time it is made possible to reward open-source developers. Just to show how the STEEM innovation is changing the world.
In overall view to these platforms that they all run on the STEEM Blockchaine, there is a place for everyone in this fast growing Social Media revolution and the sky is not the limit here. Projects are popping up all over the show to create an amazing Social Media network that rewards authors as well as Curators. Best of all the content is part of a Blockchaine and your voice can’t be silenced. Meaning that once your article reaches a certain age roughly 7 days you can’t delete or edit content created.

What is the difference between STEEM, SBD and Steem Power?

STEEM; this is the building blocks and currency of the STEEM Blockchaine on which Steemit and all platforms mentioned above are built on. You can Power up and increase your Steem Power. It can also be bought and sold on exchanges or converted to SBD.
SBD; SBD known as Steem Dollars are the internal currency of Steemit, it can be used to purchase STEEM, Steem Power and also be used to purchase upvotes as well as STEEM can also be used to buy upvote. SBD is relatively pegged to the dollar and equals to roughly $1. SBD can also be bought and traded on exchanges as STEEM can be traded.
Steem Power; SP or Steem Power can also be seen as an internal currency but can’t be traded on external exchanges. SP holder automatically hold a stake in the STEEM reward pool, the more Steem Power you accumulate the more valuable your upvote becomes and the greater your influence is in the community. SP can be “powered down” over a period of 13 weeks for STEEM at a 1:1 ratio.

Gaining followers!

There are many opinions on how to gain followers and just about everybody has a different view on how to get followers. In my opinion creating quality content and interacting with other community members is probably the best way to gain followers. I make a point of it to comment and upvote at least on one #introduceyourself post per day to give back to the community and help improve newbie’s “first post” experience, it looks as follows.

There are alternate ways but I wouldn’t recommend any of them as I find “follow for follow” sites or programs as cheating and a scam and you end up with many inactive followers.

I would recommend an amazing platform that will get you up and running fast, I have been using SmartSteem across three different accounts, @cryptoscout (discontinued), @evanpetzer (discontinued) & @pettyvest (current account).
