Can Steemit Inc. airdrop few million Steem through Coinbase Earn project or Blockchain.com to get a big publicity.

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

I have earned 250 steem through Coinbase and Blockchain.com. Basically, I got $50 airdrop in Stellar, $10 BAT, $10 in EOS, $3 ZEC and $3 0x just watching few videos and answering the quiz in Coinbase. I also got $25 equivalent of XLM through blockchain.com. I sold all of them to buy 200 Steem and powered them to delegate to projects (e.g. @steemhunt).

All these coins are ranked above Steem. Either they are better in usage than Steem or they have better marketing strategy. I believe that it is the later.

STINC used to reward 5 Steem to new users when joining Steemit.com. Later it reduced the reward to mere 0.5 Steem. However, STINC still has 70M Steem in its purse. Powering down them and selling them to the open market will look like a shady scheme and sound straight unethical. Basically, these steem are insta-mined for the purpose of the development of the protocol. These Steem are also supposed to be delegated to many projects to make Steem distribution decentralized.

However, if STINC can team up with coinbase and blockchian.com to distribute 10M Steem to new users for watching tutorials about Steem. It can help to spread Steem's goodies to the world.

Mostly, crypto-sphere is splashed with misinformation about Steem such as very high inflation (e.g. 100% a year), project is dead since @dan has left, whales controlling the reward etc.

This airdrop will provide a chance for STINC to clarify all these doubts through well made tutorials. It will also help to reach out new investors and users. Some of these airdropped Steem will be sold to the market, however, price will be compensated through the marketing and spread of words. It will another method to distribute Steem to many, many new users.

Moreover, if we look into the projects such as 0x, BAT, ZEC and XLM, their developers and executives are well connected to Coinbase. Some of the devs of these project are ex-employees of coinbase or friends of coinbase founders. Connection matters. STINC can reach out ex-coinbase employees or hire them to reach out there. Also, given the big image, @ned can personally connect with coinbase founders for the inquiry.

It is unfathomable that a coin such as Steem with large followings, exciting developments and real use-cases, struggles against its peers which have basically better connections and marketing strategies.

I remember I wrote a blog earlier that Steem has better chance than XRP or EOS to be enlisted in coinbase since the later are ICOs and have regulatory issues. Somebody mention that it will be 0x next in Coinbase since it is founded by ex-coinbase employees. I did not trust him believing that coinbase had a fair process for adding a new coin.

Here we are! 0x with very limited use cases (even founders have doubt about their own project) is the first to be listed in Coinbase besides major coins such as ETH, LTC or BCH. Connection matters, STINC or community have to be active in this matter.

Hey, @riseofth.

I think it would be awesome, since I use Coinbase, that STEEM be listed for purchase direct from fiat. I also think it would be great if they did the learner videos that these others have done. I got the BAT, and probably should get the Stellar Lumens.

I wasn't aware that these lesser tokens (because, as you say, they really are), had so many connections, but it does makes more sense that way than for reasons of better use or better blockchain. Frankly, it wears on you to think that you have one of the top blockchains here, but we're allowing others to control the narrative.

I'm not sure what it would take for STEEM to get to that point where it could be listed and do the airdrop, but there's got to be a way. I'd rather it not be due to some kind of promises, or shady deals, though. I'd rather it happen on the merit, or whatever other legit criteria there might be.

Maybe this could be an idea for a proposal on the new Steem system for community voting or the Steem Alliance can have it as its goal. I know @birdinc and @andrarchy are always working on seeing how to get Steem listed more broadly. Maybe even looking towards Kraken which have now started to consider new assets as well. It only takes one to make a difference and garner the attention of others.

Upvoted and resteemed, and @ned should really apply to issue just a few bucks of steem each to at leats a few hundred people , i would donate some of my own steem for this cause even and i know other whales who would too .,

If they set up a steem account to donate to, towards that goal, I wouldn't mind sending a few steem.

Coinbase is not the end of the world and I doubt Stinc will give 10 millions Steem. The price will increase and is just a question of believe and patience.

I agree, it doesn’t make much sense that these coins beat Steemit to be on the prestigious platform that is Coinbase. It does seem like their marketing strategies are lacklustre to say the least. It’s almost like they expect their third parties to do all the legwork.

You are also right that they are sitting on too much wealth, I read an ancient medium article about a scandal with Steem and how they delayed public mining by pretending to be open source but the code was wrong and the public couldn’t make nodes or something.

STINC defs has its own eyes wide shut type Illuminati and they don’t think making nifty little YouTube videos or better yet, all the airdrops you refer to, is in their best interest.
