I treat my each STEEM as at least $20 due to my personal experience with Litecoin mining, trading and loss.

In fact each EOS costed 50 cents while STEEM was 80 cents few months back. However, EOS has marketed well and became tremendously successful. It even reached $19 and $21 two times, even without the EOS mainnet being released (i.e EOS is still a ERC20 token, it will switch to its own blockchain). Then why STEEM is struggling at ranking 33 while EOS has doubled its marketcap against LTC. It is very complicated.

Lets talk about my Litecoin (LTC) journey. I had 2000 LTC two times through mining, purchase and trades.

Once I told my spouse back in 2013 that each LTC will be someday $20. However, I lost most of them due over-trading. When it touched $48 in December, 2013, I had 10 BTC in stead of LTC ($11K equivalent).

I came back again in 2014 and made around 2000 LTCs. This time LTC crashed to $1.1, I lost hope. I gambled them in OKcoin futures (i.e. 20X leverage trading) to rescue my investment. Unfortunately, I lost all of them this time.

Interestingly, I wrote a post on reddit when LTC was $1.7 that an asset which can drop 24X and can rise 24X. It reached little bit popularity when LTC hit $50 again after two years. Eventually, LTC reached $380.

I trusted LTC when I start mining it. I believed it will over perform BTC in the long run since it has better features- ASIC resistant algorithm (on that time), faster transaction and low transaction fee. It has a capable leadership in Charlie Lee. I had chatted with him few times in now defunct btc-e chatbox.

On the other hand,I have discussed EOS's advantages over STEEM in my last blog. Basically, EOS became scarce since 99% are sold while more than current supply of STEEM will be produced in next 20 years. EOS has optimism and huge speculation behind it, due to popularity of its founder- @dan.

In fact, STEEM has network effect and early mover advantage on its side. It is two year older than EOS, and @dan is co-founder of STEEM. It has a working product (e.g. Steemit, the most successful DApp), very few top coins can even claim. However, circulation of STEEM do not feel scarce and there is a visible pessimism among the large number of users.

However, SMTs can change the game forever. As I talked in one of my last blogs, each SMT can choose their own algorithm for reward pool. It can be similar to current stake-weighted voting. It can be one account one vote. It could be any combination of multiple policies.

Even there could be multiple blog sites each specializing on different topics such as art/music, investing/trading or science/technology with their own SMT. If the users don't like the policy, they can join rival's SMT. There will be competition among the entrepreneurs to allure new users to use their DApp and SMTs. They will evolve due the invisible hands of market.

On the other hand, STEEM is faster, has zero transaction fee and always be ASIC free compared to Litecoin. @ned is not a bad leader either. With SMT, it will be one of the topmost next-generation smart-contract type coins. As EOS has overtake LTC few months back, STEEM has possibility of overtaking LTC in coming month.

My gut feeling is stronger about STEEM than it was about LTC.

I also share your enthusiasm. I am very bullish on Steem, wish I had purchased more back a year ago when steem was well under a dollar. Either way, long term SMT's are going to be a game changer and if we have patience we will all be nicely rewarded

The possibility to overtake LTC next month? Do you think they will manage to finish SMTs by then? Looking at the GitHub I think it will be Christmas...
