Is steemit gonna implode and will frontends take over in the future?

in #steem5 years ago

Hello everybody, i hope you are all having a nice Sunday. I have been thinking lately alot about steemit and where it is headed. Not talking about STEEM, talking about steemit and the changes from HF21.

I was a daily user of tipU for 2 accounts i run spending 25-35 STEEM a day, since a few days back i am not able to use this service anymore. I think that form HF21 tipU was just about break even are even losing some for each upvote i paid for. This did'nt really bother me as i have always thought about it like promotion to get higher in trending so the new post payout from HF21 was not the problem. Since i have stopped using tipU, my posts still get the same amount of comments but what do i do with all this extra STEEM i have from not paying for upvotes? Yes, yes it's a 1st world problem and not a bad one to have but what can you do with STEEM? power it up are?, buy some SE shit tokens, SM cards are play a dice game to lose it all. Taking out the legs of the biggest bid bots is the same as removing a huge economy from within STEEM ecosystem. I can tell you i have spent over 8000 STEEM on bidding bots over my 30 months on steemit and not much STEEM on anything else. I have been posting decent content for over 2 years and if i wonna use a bid bot, why can i not? I earned that STEEM through hard work. We can already see from block'tivity that STEEM has fallen to 4th place were it has sat solidly in 3rd for months. Take away the big bid bot economy and watch transactions decline and i think this is only the start of it.

This new approach to better content is BS and stinks rotten. Why not force bidding bots burn 10% of profits instead? Make them pass the cost to the user making it not profitable and basically turning them into a promotional service with a loss on investment. If the bid bot owner refuses, then attack his users with downvotes. Better than just blindly downvoting everyone never mind the actual content. Are shitposts that much of a problem really? If you ever use facebook, you'll see that most of it is complete rubbish but people still use it, why? Because they have added in about a million settings you can pick from to filter out all the crap you dont wonna see. They understand content has nothing to do with success and pushed every form of content thinkable. Shitposts are the foundation of social media, filters help users get the best experience. Downvoting a bunch of users that pay for upvotes is a weird way of going about things.

Steemit on the decline

Looking at it from my small account user's point of view, Steemit is fooked. All the posts im seeing now is trending posts about curation trails and how Steemit is so much better than before, soon we'll all be part of one huge jerking circle receiving 1000 upvotes for each post. I sometimes wish i was a new user that knew less and just accepted it as a centralized platform. Active users are down, under 5000 new posts being created a day which is a drop in the ocean after 3-4 years of being live. The same shit is being spun out over and over by the steemit team and nothing really seems to get done, like everyone is just unmotivated are something. We've got a bunch of ad's showing up everywhere, SMT's are "coming" and Thrive Mode updates. I am not gonna pretend to know anything about the steemit team, how many their are and even what they do, im just saying that apart from separating wallets into a new tab and changing post payouts, nothing has changed from i signed up while the whole the the rest of the crypto world is evolving. I love STEEM and i believe it has a good future but i dont think it's value will come from steemit long term. Frontends/tribes are a new thing and we all know that the best of a new thing is not the first to be released so i would expect these frontends to only get better as time goes on and gain more users in the process increasing STEEMs activity.

Rise of the frontend platform

Scotbot is working wonders for STEEM with lots of great frontends already active and doing very well. The guys at steem-engine seem to just get it done and are always updating and releasing new products to increase STEEM's use. I myself even started my own SE token which has done sales of around 53,000 STEEM in 3 months, all that STEEM is powered up and locked away whichis a good thing for STEEM. I could never have done this on steemit and the real innovation for STEEM comes from the community through dapps, projects and frontends. I use steemleo alot for reading as i like the content, it's filtered to my liking and i dont need to scroll through an endless feed of shitposts. I would say that i find interest in around 70% of all posts of the steemleo homepage compared to the 5% on steemit. Of course, if steemit added category's with a few filter options using tags front ends would not be needed but hay hoo, thats the way it is. I currently post from steempeak, reply to comments and do wallet transactions from steemit and read posts from steemleo. Steem-engine is making it easier for users to create on the blockchain and that's why i have the option use 3 different front ends relating to my STEEM activity based on what i wonna do. Steempeak is the best front end for creating posts no questions, i feel safer doing wallet transactions from steemit and i like the content on steemleo.

Sooner are later someone will develop a really easy to use wordpress addon which could add a scotbot like program to any website. The addon would include custom options for reward pool payouts, inflation ect are just be used for straight transactions. This would let anyone with a website offer crypto rewards for content producing are straight transaction like gaming, products are services. This is when i think STEEM get's interesting and has a better chance of doing well long term. Im not a huge tech guy, i cant write code but i can build a website on wordpress and if there was a decent addon to integrate a STEEM rewarding system to a self built forum, i'd have one built already. Anyone can build a wordpress website and ease of use is key. Steem-engine is very simple to use and that's why it's frontends are making waves and helping to drive activity while giving STEEM itself more utility through it's steem-engine exchange which trades tribe tokens and many others, around 600 i think. I look forward the STEEM evolving and moving away from steemit being known as the most popular dapp for STEEM. Im no hater, it's just looks to be the way it's headed and i embrace it is all. I seen recently somewhere that someone was writing code that seperated voting power to different tribes meaning you could vote on steemleo and your voting power would only decrease on the steemleo frontend. The future is already happening the community is hard at work.

I really do love STEEM and i will always be involved in some STEEM project, it just might not be steemit at this rate. Everything that is happening for STEEM is happening off steemit, more projects means more people are exposed. If STEEM get's a nice boom of new users during the next alt coin bull run, we could be enough to bring it to the next level and back into the top 50 coin ranking. I fear STEEM dropping from the top 100 ranked, it's more a kick in the balls than everything else knowing all the utility STEEM offers compared other crypto above it in the ranking

Vi Va LA STEEM!!

An interesting post and I believe also the community will bring this blockchain to the moon hopefully. ;)

yeah, its a love/hate post with mixed views. lol.

It'll happen, i dont think we'll see new all time highs but with all the new dapps being added, at least it's getting out there for now :)
